XBMC Hangs

My episode with XBMC seem to be short lived.
Hangs left and right in my setup while browsing and need to killed using task manager.

Looks like XBMC is targeted for movie and video viewing where you browse for a short time and watch for a long time. Continuous browsing as in the case of music listening hangs the player.

Anybody else facing the issue?

I moved to media center and it is quite good for music. Using XBMC for movies only now.

Will be trying "Media Browzer" plugin for media center and check out.

If it is good, planning to move windows media center completely.

Hangs for me too.. Playback continues but all windows freeze.

Try jriver also.

is this with v 12? I never faced anything like this in v11 except that after a long pause resume of the paused video stutters.

Video playback is perfectly fine.
We are talking of Music playback, browsing etc.

Mine with V11 also hanged for a couple of times. I thought my PC RAM is weak.

One thing I noticed is that XBMC only hangs when I try to browse the files too fast. Else it works perfect. Have used 3-4 hrs at a stretch.

We are talking of Music playback, browsing etc.

Can anyone using v11 confirm if they pause a networked location video for say 10 mins and then play again does they seem stutter?

Pls.check if Hardware acceleration is properly enabled.Check CPU load too.

I use v11 and all my movies are located in NAS. I never experienced problem with xbmc, neither hang nor stutter.

Yes, I noticed that also.

It hangs when you give it too many commands.

You have to wait for a minute or two for it to sort itself out.

What skin are you using in you XBMC, I personally experienced the basic skin and currently using Aeon skin, but I'm not facing any such issues.

Although I only use XBMC for music during my weekends for 2 to 3 hrs. How often do you guys use it for music.

BLASTO , how are you browsing, is it from within XBMC???, I have never browser per se, but AFA Movies, and Music is concerned never had a problem with v11 or 12. Initially I was using the inbult player for music then later configured XBMC to load foobar from within XBMC itself. The entire combination was very satisfying.

For movie as well, I have paused a movie for like 20 minutes to get my popcorn ready in the middle and never faced any problem of resuming it.

This is with AEON skin I am talking about which is one of the heavy skin, that I also have configured to be even heavier by enabling every effect I can find on it, like auto color change, smoke effect, etc etc, and never have faced any problem.

Never faced any such problem with XBMC. Sometimes I finish a movie and turn off the TV. And after 7-8 hours I turn on TV and again watch another movie or listen to music. Sometimes XBMC runs for 1-2 days but never hangs.
