Hi All,
My friend wants to buy sub. And he find xtz cinema sub 1*12.
Need suggestions. Budget 1.25lks.

Thanks
Phani

I have suggested the same.but he said on paer xtz is more powerful. As audition not possible in vizag

Its not about how low it goes with poor performance but how it produces good bass with high performance.
Absolutely, but the XTZ are not poor on performance either. While they did fall short in specific areas , no other sub created the impact the XTZ 12.17 edge did for action movies in my experience.

Ask him if he wants to read the specs after buying or listen to it ?
If he wants to listen then ascendo, if he wants to read then Xtz.
Actually ascebdo frequency response as per web is from 30Hz. Last year sane time it is mentioned frequency response from 25Hz.
He is,saying its not going low

Any reason why you say so, I have noticed that so many sub 20 frequencies in play during the demo videos , certain feel in explosion scenes go totally missing or are ad feeble it can get in subs which don't do below 20. While XTZ might not be the best all round sub there , I don't see any reason for it to be marketed as a poor sub. Easily outdid a KEF R400 ( which is a sealed 30hz sub) , SVS Sb2000. SVS SB4000, PB2000 ( only audition experience) , outdoes Rhytmik FVX12 in specific areas.

The lower one tries to push the sub to get better specs on paper, the more the ported noise and also the driver choice compromises the transient response in the extremely critical 40-80hz range.

Lesson to learn is don't sacrifice 40-80hz quality to achieve 20hz capability, this leads to a completely mediocre sub which looks awesome on paper.

Do a proper AB comparison to experience it.

Any good sub from frequrncy response from 22 hz to 150hz

Are you are assuming the sub with lower digging capability is pushing the sub, 12 inch woofer with large cabinet , proper tuning & a proper amplifier can dig deep with the trade off of potential port noise at a particular frequency.

Keeping aside the fact that all ported subs will have some chuffing at specific frequencies, what do you feel should be ideal frequency cutoff at what cabinet size & what should be the design idealogy ?

I am sure you have experienced much more considering you consult & build for HT assignments, but I don't see a single online review & even per my personal experience these were not bad subs at all.

I learnt all this when I was working on subwoofer design to make something high performance at an affordable price for our market - because subwoofer shipping etc makes high end subs very expensive in India.
That's when I realised what all is sacrificed to get that sub 20hz output.. and that too at volume levels which hardly matters and mostly what the subwoofer produces is harmonic distortion.

Yeah, they might not be bad until you listen/ experience something really good.

Psychology plays a huge role in this subwoofer domain. If something doesn't satisfy on paper, a person keeps longing for more. Online reviews are not based on someone doing proper comparisons, even if comparisons are done they are done amongst similar subs like S_S vs Ryt_ _ ik.

Now let me share some good subwoofer designs which get ignored because of either the price or on paper specs or lack of exposure( paid review based marketing)

CODA u12i sub ( pro audio)

I installed This (https://www.cscaudio.co.uk/CR_10s.html) in a project, took a gamble with my instincts i would say, and i was surprised listening to it, that was the perception changing experience for me.
Seeing the specs you would say that I'm a fool to choose this. :D

This is a complicated and controversial subject to discuss on forum :D

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
