Yamaha AS500 Versus Marantz MCR603 - what should i buy? They are certainly not comparable, but i am a bit confused.
1. With Marantz MCR603 i can listen to any kind of music? (USB/MP3 etc) which i have in loads on my Laptop. (I have'nt auditioned yet, so can't comment on the listening experience)
2. Yamaha AS500 has no USB option but it's a pleasure a listen to. (I did audition the Yamaha AS500). But this means i need to have a dedicated CD player/Cassette Deck/TT.
Please suggest the best Delhi based dealer to buy them from. Any place in Delhi which gives discounts?
All audio experts please advice.

My suggestion would be get the AS500 which will be far superior to all-in-one MCR603. Regarding the options of playback you can use your DVD player for CD playback and your Laptop for MP3/FLAC files if you do not have the budget as of now. Otherwise you can invest in a decent DAC (USB+Coaxial) and you can use this with your DVD and Laptop to your Yamaha amplifier.

As you have already stated AS500 and CR503 are not comparable.
CR603 is a compact all in one space saving solution. Generally people prefer such systems in bedroom to avoid any clutter.

AS500 is a standalone integrated amp. You have the flexibility to choose any source and pair with matching speakers.

Between CR603 and AS500 It is AS500.

Thanks manniraj for your prompt response. whats your take on pairing the Yamaha AS500 with Monitor Audio BR2 (Bookshelves) or BR6/BX5 (Floorstanding?. I am personally inclined towards FS, but i am open to expert advice.

Where can i find the best dealer for Yamaha AS500 in Delhi? Who is offering the best discounts? i am told that its available for Rs.29K is this reasonable? What is the actual price after discount??

I have not heard it but I think there are other fms who have this combination and may give a proper feedback.

When WhatHifi rated the Monitor BX2 as their speaker of the year, the matching amp recommended was the AS500. I had used this combo and it was a very good pairing. I would suppose it will go well with the BR5 / BX5 since the tonality is very similar to the BX2.
