I am planning to buy rx-v681 from the US. The power supply is 120v60hz. Will it work properly in India with a step down transformer? Will the difference in frequency create any problem?

Yes, frequency will create a problem, you should have a step down transformer that takes care of the Voltage as well as Frequency. I had used my Wii adapter in 2009 with just a step down voltage converter which ruined the original adapter, then I got one wound from a local electrician shop based on the Wii Input requirements - worked like a charm.

You can use a step down transformer for 110 V. One of my friend has got Yamaha RX-V677 from US and using here with a Step Down. And the good thing about the Yamaha Receiver available in US is, if there are 3 voltage fluctuation in a row then the receiver will lock itself to prevent it from damage. Also why don't you think about RX-V781, which is not available in India. It has 7.2 preout and slightly better than 681. Just a suggestion.
Hi I got Onkyo TX NR777 receiver from usa. It's is 220 watts per channel. 110v and have 7.2 channel. How much capacity of step down voltage transformer required. What are all considered to ve considered to determine the capacity of step down voltage transformer. Please suggest me

Hi,
For calculating the power requirement you should not take the output rms watts per channel.
Check the attachments.
For your case you have to look for 750 - 1000 watts stepdown transformer. Not less than 750w even though it is mentioned as 600watts to have breathing for your stepdown trafo and safety for your equip.
Normally u can easily get 500,750,1000 as a standard rating in market which is readily available.Iam not discussing here for a shop/person who can do for your specific requirement.
Spec Sheet TX-NR777
Hope this info helps

Before purchase, check the price of the same model in India with various dealers, i am sure you can get a good competitive rate.....recently a FM purchased the Yamaha A1070 for a very good rate along with warranty......
Factor the weight you will carry from US and also possible customs over here......repairs (God Forbid) in the near future.....
I am unable to find the entire lineup of Yamaha AVR's in Mumbai, sellers only pushing the models they have in stock, guess will have to go through the US purchase route, any idea if custom duty needs to be paid on landing?
