Has anyone heard yamaha mx1000?
Pls let me know if there is one up for sale. What could be good price to pay for it?

I have not heard them myself but many audiophiles regard it as the finest amp Yamaha ever made and one of the finest in the world. An MX1000 amp and a CX1000 pre amp sold for $ 950 plus shipping in 2006 on klipsch.com.

I will never consider the Yamaha MX 1000 to be the worlds finest amps. Maybe at that time the MX 1000 was a good one, but by to days standards(even at that time) the yamaha was and is a very bright sounding kit. It has got power, but will give you headache along with the power I had a very short audition and could not listen to it for more then 5 mins

ANM : Audition the yamaha for more then 30 mins and then take a call.

ANM: The Classe should be a better product then the Yamaha any day. They both sound very different. Yamaha is a bright sounding machine and the Classe is just opposite to it. The Classe has got power to drive various speakers and the sound is overall very good.

the person did not budge on the price, and then I was not sure as I did not get any positive feedback here. Since buying first then listening was the only option, I did not push it.

I am quite tilted towards a lyrita setup but need a good amp for my magnapans, which are still waiting to be unpacked since I shifted.

Do you use a separate Lyrita phono stage with your Lyrita pre amp? Doesn't the latter have phono inputs or do you not find them good enough?

All most all Maggies goes well with the Classe. Check the dealers for Classe electronics and they will be dealers for Maggies too ( Atleast 90 percent). There is a Classe for sale from a Delhi member, check with him.
