Yamaha NS F150 for 16.5k a good deal ?

You could do much better than Yamahas. They are good for movies. Not so with music IMHO.

Since you are already in the 20k+ mode, here are some options. Q Acoustics 2020i, Usher S 520, MS Aviano 2 (don't know current pricing), PSB B6, etc. Yes, you do need to budget for stands though.

My 100 Rs. stay exactly where they need to, in my pocket!!! :ohyeah:

I completely agree with you, cut the poisonous tree @ its roots & be done with!

Some times the simple things in life work well & yet we try to make things complicated.

If you are happy with the NS555 demo, then buy them. End of story, hopefully for you :p

DO carry your media along for the demo though! Absolute must :)
Yes !
I would be carrying the volume 2 of Enigma which has my favourite song, Return to Innocence.
I agree with you mate !!

When I joined the forum a month ago, my budget for speakers was about ~25-30k (for a 5.1 system). And today, my budget is 45k for 5.0 and another 15k for subwoofer. The reason for the expansion of the budget is the advice of audiophile forum members :ohyeah: and their reasons/explanations to go for better equipment :yahoo:. If I wait for one more month, my budget might increase by 10 more thousands .

This is a serious hobby that will never guarantee satisfaction. You will be craving for more. I joined this forum while looking for a 5.1 decoder for my laptop to connect with cheap 5.1 speaker system that I had. After an year or so I bought a BDP, AVR, Media Player, two HTPCs, 5.1 speaker system, a servo stab, LI UPS, 3D TV, couple of hard disks, remote controls, blu-ray disks, stereo amp, book shelf speakers and now online UPS. Sold a few items which always resulted in loss. The total damage is over 2 Lakhs a good portion of which is loan.:D. I am still looking for other fields of improvement like a projector, a better subwoofer and a 2.1 speaker system for laptop and probably a DAC.:licklips:
Yeah, absolutely !

Thanks bro.

I would check them out.

I was also planning earlier to go for Vardus series (Verdus 400). But, many members suggested not to. And, I wasn't even able to find any positive reviews online about them. So, better stay away from that series.

Between, you have mentioned in the earlier posts that you got a quote of 22k fro NS55. So, I am assuming that you are ready to shell out that amount if you like them. In that case, why don't take you look at Sonodyne Sonus 2504, Polk TSi 300 floor standers.

Some people say Sonodyne has QC issues.
TSi300...I'll check it out.

BTW, its not like I want a really costly speaker...I would absolutely love to have a low cost speaker so that I can use the rest of the money on a pre-amp and an HD VA panel for my PC.

BTW how about this one ?

Wharfedale Vardus 300 Floorstanding Speakers

Don't take anyone's word as gospel. I suggest that you listen to the Vardus 300 and then decide for YOURSELF. Solicit advice but trust ONLY your ears.

As I said, I'm a very busy guy and I really cherish the (little) free time I get more than my ears lol :D

BTW, next month, I'm planning for a listening session at Achme Communications, Coimbatore, TN. Hope that I can make the decision there. But it could all change though....I'm getting really good offers for used speaker systems. May be I would go for a used one to start my journey in this really costly road.

I am not so busy, but, I am lazy to go out and audition
However, when we are paying so much for the equipment it is always good to spend some time auditioning and then decide on what to buy.

I almost finalized to purchase Sonodyne speaker set :yahoo:.

Now, you have planted a new seed of doubt in my mind  !!!

I request the fellow forum members to share your opinion/experience about the Sonodyne speakers.

Sorry about that but I saw a pic with the speaker locking bracket bent and the driver slightly protruding out of the box.

Please search the forum...its in here somwhere.

Apart from the comments in that thread, no, not at all.

Guys, do you have any suggestion regarding the speaker selection ?

These are my preferences BTW !
1. Very sensitive (>89 db?)...I might go for an SPL war with my neighbor :p :D
2. Fast paced....should be ok for using for games, music as well as movies.
3. Good mids as well as highs. I would be buying/building a 12" Peerless woofer based sub with a 300W amp soon. So, how "low" the FS can go does not matter that much.
4. Good soundstage.
5. Sturdy build, looks does not matter.

budget: max 20k (can increase a little bit more)
amp: diy power amp with 100W/channel (can supply upto 150W/channel according to bibin3210)

Please help
Bring it !
