Looking for a HT system (TV is Sony 46" W950A). My living room is decently big but not sure if it matters as I don't have wiring done to place the speakers all across the hall. So, most likely I'll be placing all the speakers near the TV panel (TV unit is around 8' long - so that's the max distance between 2 speakers possible) unless I go for some wireless arrangements.

Can you suggest some Yamaha or Onkyo system that'll suit my requirement?
The system should be capable of handling 3D signal.

I stay in Bangalore. Where can I explore Yamaha systems?

Btw, my budget is around 30-40k.

Also, any idea how's YHT-497? I see in US it's around 350 USD.

Hi,

Fortunately for you in Bangalore there are ample Home Theatre dealers and you will definitely get a system which will suit your expectations and budget. A little window shopping would help ...carry along your music / movies...as at the end of the day...we forum members can suggest...you need to be satisfied with the performance....

Yamaha is good.

With a budget of 30-40K, you will get the entry level HTIB from Onkyo/ Yahama. What source are you going to use? 3D bluray player?

If you're from B'lore, can you suggest some places to check? I know only one Onkyo dealer near Domlur.

All Reliance Digital stores have a setup for HT demo, though some big stores have a separate home theatre room setup for demo. I went to Sahakarnagar store, which has a room setup for demo. Onkyo 3500, Pioneer HTP323 and Yamaha YHT 299 are the ones I demoed, along with Sony and Denon, and finally zeroed in on Yamaha YHT 299, which was 38K with a free blueray player. Check out Reliance Digital store near to you and demo all the ones you have shortlisted. All the ones I mentioned above are good but you need to decide which one to buy, based on what you hear and like :)

My budget is 25-30K and my need for a HT is to work with my 42" LG TV. And i have a good collection of movies in USB and want to watch it with good sound effect. Room size 20x11

I have almost shortlisted Yamaha 196, but then came to know that it does NOT have usb port. So what are the other options? What about Pioneer HTP-72 or anything from Onkyo?

Please help. My preference is to get something with active subwoofer and usb and hdmi port.

In most AVRs the usb port supports only audio playback. There is Sony DTH iv300 which has usb video playback and two hdmi inputs. Yamaha or Onkyo HTiBs will be better. You can buy a cheap android media player or raspberry pi for video playback.

Hi, As my requirement is mostly to watch movies from USB drives, is it better to go with systems like Philips HTD5570/94 5.1 DVD Home Theatre System, which is available for just 15K ?

Have anyone experienced the sound quality of such systems?

The advice you will get around here is to stick with real HT brands like Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon and the likes. Not regular consumer brands.
I saw Onkyo 5400 for 47k at Reliance digital and it just blew me away - audition it.
People around here have high regards for Yamaha 299 too.

After getting a demo of YHT299 locally in Bangalore, I got impressed with Yamaha and purchased RXV675 receiver from US.

Now, I need all your guidance on the speaker system.
- What're your recommendations?
- How is Yamaha NS-P40?
- Another option I'm considering Bose Acoustimass 5 Speaker System (in that case I need to temporarily manage with creative speakers etc. to space out the expense) - what're your expert suggestions?
