Hello,

Could you please suggest which receiver is better.
I am thinking of buying either one of these. Is there any known problem associated with either of these receiver? Heating issue or any other kind of problem?
I will use my home theater for 80% movies and 20% music.

In terms of service, both of them have good dealer network across major cities..So servicing them shouldn't be an issue in case something unfortunate happens..

Onkyo AVR in the past have had more HDMI issues than others.. But should have been fixed in the recent models..

Either of these should do fine.. Also consider Denon x 1300, Pioneer vsx 932 & Marantz SR 5011..

I have YAMAHA RX-V581 receiver. I considered this receiver for the following reasons.

- Comes with DOLBY ATMOS and DTS-X (No firmware update required for DTS-X, unlike other receivers)
- Entry level 7.2 receiver that fulfills all my movie requirement
- I have YAMAHA service center in my home town which is really important for me
- The connections are simply and straight forward. No more clumsy wire connectsion in the back panel (This could sound weird, I dont need too many connections)
- Tight competent with ONKYO, DENON, PIONEER, MARANTZ 7.2 receivers
- I like warm sound than sharp and goes really well with my speakers
- You get firmware updates from YAMAHA for the receivers
- Comes with robust YAMAHA apps to control the reciever from the phone

These are some of the reasons that I really liked. ONKYO is equally good in its audio and sound stage. Go for audition with different speakers and decide which suits you.

How is the sound for movies? Since I am going to import either of these receiver from USA I do not want to take a chance. Thanks for the help.

It is subjective because it depends on the speakers that you use. I have been fine tuning my speakers to get the best out if it also it's still breaking in.
