Thank you sriee... for the reply and post... will check that... possible will audition it too...

Finally I see a post... I dont understand why no one bothered to reply.

A. It has been discussed multiple times
B. Everyone is very busy
C. This is how we treat a new forum member who post his first.

Hmmm now which one it would be...

Regards
Pradeep

I have MA RX6 paired with Yamaha RX-V571 receiver and I have no complaints. I had marantz receiver earlier, but it failed :(. Yamaha has been working butter smooth since day 1.

Its mostly A, B and the fact that we dont like people named pradeep in general! okay, just kidding :)

You could start with more details. Like What's your intended use (movies or music). What's the room size. What's your budget. What kind of music you like to listen to. Looking for 5.1 or 2.0/2.1 etc. Without these details, its pretty much impossible to suggest anything. Both the AVRs are pretty decent in their own accord along with most of the speakers you listed.

Yamaha is supposedly more musical while denon supposedly gives better performance with movies. (supposedly as I'm no where near qualified to make such comments). Just one suggestion, don't buy anything without an audition. Try out as many setups you can, and as many times as you can.

Thank you Sir... I have taken the point... well if this was in the first place I would have happily given the information. But my question was simple and I believe it was straight forward.

Which is a better AVR of the 2 and what speakers would gel good with them.

I have tried to read most of the information provided here for those 2 AVR. They start good, but down the line the message gets shifted and the question is not answered to the fullest.

So getting back to my question, here are few things I would add for more information on my setup:

1. Looking for a bookshelfs - NO Floor stands
2. 60% music - mostly regional movie songs in mp3 and 40% movies
3. Starting with 2.0 and slowly add to 5.1
4. Room size 10x10
5. Budget 80k max - including both AVR and 2 BS

Now I am getting 673 for 20k in USA. Would that be a wise move. Planning to get the speakers here locally.

Thanks again sir, no harm/offense meant to this forum. I respect the people and the forum here. I am very long time reader of this forum.

Honestly till date I am listening to a dumb 5.1 local PC speakers, I really wanted to a have a good setup in my home, and I was collecting much information as possible for the past 4 months. Finally when I had them all thought of getting the PRO advice, and that's where I am right now..

If someone is carrying the AVR for you from US then it's a good option. Only thing that you'll need is a step down converter to run it on indian voltage . Lot of new FMs go to amazon.com and they see the price in $, converts them to INR and gets excited that it's too cheap and think that it can be easily bought assuming amazon would ship the product here in India and you don't have to pay any custom duty and shipping...but does not work that way.

If 60% usage will be for music then would suggest you to go for Yamaha. For speakers, lots of options are there.please refer Bookshelf

Hi There

I was facing the exact same predicament two weeks back. I went to Yamaha showroom for an audition & found that they just have the 373 for demo. Took a demo of it & found it to be nothing great. They told me, one should just look at the specs & buy, why audition? This really turned me off, cause I was carrying my Sonodyne Avant CS with me.

I went straight to ProFX from there & bingo, they had the 2113 for demo. Since Im more of a 'movie guy', it was a no brainer. Booked it then & there.

Maybe that day if I could have demo'd the 673, the story couldv'e been different, who knows. But a luck would have it, I saved some 8000 bucks too by opting for the Denon.

Yes. I would be carried by one of my friend. I would get a down converter to run it.

Thanks I would check the BS information.

If you can get it from US, I think you should look at something better than the yamaha 673. With your 80k budget for fronts and avr, spending only 20-25k on avr is not really a wise decision. Once again, I'm not an expert here so can't tell you what specifically you should get, but I still think you should increase the Avr budget a bit and get a something better. Something with pre-outs and/or maybe audyssey xt32. Look at other brands too, especially harman kardon. Not too many people have those here as these are very expensive in India but those who managed to get their hands on one absolutely love it.

yes as its a one time buy and from us..get the most expensive one you can afford...
if its music more..
try to audition kef/monitor audio..

you can buy monitor audio blindly though....cant fail..hehe

@nSinghal Thanks for that.. however if you could give me some more name/product, would really appreciate it... thanks again..

@prosenjit ... Monitor Audio, read they are bright... however I have not auditioned them, however before I buy the BS I am sure to audition it.. any BS for that... KEF hmmm not sure maybe...

Thanks and Regards

Like I already stated, I have zero experience here. Bought my first avr (marantz 6006) less than a month ago and not even using it currently. S can't offer you any opinion about real world performance but going by specs and other users opinions, I think you should be looking at yamaha aventage series (a820 or a810 specifically), yamaha v773, or harman kardon avr (3650 or 3700 if the budget allows) if you're getting it from US and music is your first preference. For movies, onkyo 818 seems like good option too with multeq XT32. Do make sure to reconfirm the prices in India and US though. No point in getting it from US unless you're saving atleast 30%.

ok you have not auditioned KEF...give it a try..you wont be disappointed..
monitor audio...bright!!..
i heard it..although i am a noob about audiophile stuff..never felt it bright..and audiophiles say its warmer than wharfedale etc....

I thought of the same option of bringing the Yamaha RX-V673 from US. I wrote a mail to the Yamaha Guyz and got a reply saying, " The video upscaling may not work well, if used a step down transformer" Same way, the parts will wear off soon. Since, it was on my last days in USA, I had to return back to BestBuy and bought in India :(...

anyways... I'm asking my friend to buy for me Adcom or any other better Amp from USA, since, most of the Amps work in both 120 V as well 230 V ( user selectable )....
