Going for separates is always a better option and you can gradually build your 5.1 system. Denon avr is fine but not sure of tannoy mercury as never heard. Others can suggest better. Have you auditioned them and liked?

Both are good system..
Denon x500 advantage : Powerful than YHT2910..U can able to extend your upto 165 watts per channel in future. As a user I'm enjoying this system a lot.

YHT 2910 advantage: Have more features than x 500 such as 4k passthrough,USB plugin option for audio, ecomode option .This year model of Yamaha.

As per many members review denon x500 is good with Boston Acoustis soundware XS 5.1 speaker system.
You need decide it based on your budget and ur hearing taste by proper audition.

Finally i decided to leave yamaha out and go with Denon Avr-x500

Now the confusion is between the speakers.
I have to finalise between two option
1. Boston Acoustics Soundware XS 5.1 (for 23K)
2. Boston Acoustic A25(Bookshelf pair for front)+Boston A 225c (center)+ Boston Soundware XS 2.1 for sub and Satellite.(for 33k)

Please help in deciding between these two options.

I was thinking of exactly the same setup for my hometheater. But since my room is very large i dropped the idea of buying the xs2.1 for subwoofer and surrounds because 8" Sub would be insufficient for 15*20 ft room. However for your room it seems to be okay. My vote goes to the second combo for 33k

@ rayvonnee

Finally what did u chose in place of XS 2.1
i mean speakers for satellite and subwoofer.
and at what price u are getting these speakers

I took polk audio tsx110b for fronts as well as surrounds tsx150c for centre and PSW110 for subwoofer. Total came to 51k only for speakers+sub. My X500 costed me 22k. Also was looking for jamo s426 5.0 packagr and they really impressed me. However I had no arrangement for floor standers So i brought the polks which i am very happy with.
