Hi everyone.
How interesting this place is...
I'm looking foreward to reading and contributing to a forum based in such a different country to England .
I didn't realise vinyl was so alive and well in India.....glad though.
Excuse my ignorance but I'm amazed at the standard of grammer. Is English the language of hi fi lovers the world over haha ?

Welcome to HFV mate.

Contrary to world opinion... most Indians are well educated and proficient in English... and that's not just limited to us audiophile Indians.

Citation please. A quick check using Google revealed the following stats:

Literacy rate (defined as any one above 7 who can read and write in any language): 74%
Gross Enrollment Rate for secondary education: 40%
Gross Enrollment Rate for higher education: ~20%
% of population that can speak English: ~12.

Which Indians are you talking about?

Thanks all.
I did ask to be excused..lol...
And I certainly meant no offence. Even if I can't spell good.
And I'm the first to admit that the English education standards are and always have been , well below par up to many countries.
I'm from a village called Glusburn in between Haworth ( think Brontes ) and Skipton ( think sheep )
I play vinyl only on a Mitchel Gyrodec. An Audiomods IV arm and at the moment an Ortofon 2m black cartridge. Also a technics SL1200 for 12 Inch singles and stuff needing less finess but more bass slam.
Together with sugden phono stage 2...Roksan amp and B&W cm7 speakers. A Musical Fidelity X Can 2 phones amp and audio technica alternating with grado sr 80 headphones....that's it. And I love it hah.

My spelling is ( oviously ) not great. That coupled with a small mobile phone and a lack of patience is not a good mix...once again please excuse. Tch !

:) .... quit pulling the leg of your countryman ...
The leg of a Yorkshireman is eminently pullable.

The response, though, is likely to be so exquisitely dry, that it is hard to realise that is is funny --- until you find yourself laughing a couple of days later.

Twice I have posted back and have received a " your post needs to be approved by moderators before being allowed " or summat to that effect !
Am I on a "suspended sentence " ??

I'll try again...
I meant no offence. I did ask you to excuse my ignorance.
As an amateur historian I long ago realised that the standard of education in my own country has always been second rate....as you can see..!
By the way I live in a village called Glusburn. .6 miles from Haworth ( think..Bronte sisters ) and 5 miles from Skipton ( think ...men marrying sheep )
Thanks for the welcome.

Everything did in good humour, I guess ..... offence, is tried to ... neither given nor taken in here.

Please enjoy your stay and contribute your experience in here. Thats by far more enjoyable than anything else .....

Thanks for the welcome.
Many of my four bears came from Yorkshire and Lankashire, and I still have family in the Lake District. Sadly, I have spent very little time north of Birmingham . These days, Delhi seems to be my Northern limit!

If one were to offer a rose or bunch, what would be the least offensive color to an english man?

Ans: Find out which football club they support :D

Thanks everyone.
I feel right a home now.
Well except the few thousand miles bit .
Going to be interesting to see what stuff you all use. Especially for records.

Ah someone from the land of James Herriott! One of my favourite book series. Welcome to the forum the engine. What's your vinyl setup? Pics would be nice too :)

I have a garrard 301 with an SME 3012 with an SPU classic. And an all valve setup, 45 based tubes SET, preamp and phono based on ecc83 valves.

Regards

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
