I am desperately seeking to buy a home theater system under 75K including avr. i am too confused which one is the best in that price range. I have come across Heco ambient 5.1A which sounded fine. However i need an advice.

Hi Vivian,

It all depends on your room size and what kind of features / speakers you would like to have. For me the Marantz NR 1402 + Boston Acoustic Soundware XS 5.1 speakers work well in a 200 sq ft area at 40% volume. Have been using the system for more than a year now without any hiccups..This setup costs around 50k and you may get the same cheaper from ALFA....warranty is important and so you need to consider carefully your purchases.

You may want to visit Pro FX who sell Denon AVRs and Polk speakers....you may want to see the Denon X500 + Polk RM6750 speaker set deal which is around 50-58k I assume...they may give some discount. If Tower Speakers appeal to you...you can audition the same and take a decision.

Fortunately in Mumbai we have a lot of Home Theatre dealers like Sound Out at Haji Ali, Fair Deal at South Mumbai Crawford Markt, Cinebels at Bandra etc etc. You need to make time and decide wisely on a good system. Most of these dealers are ready to provide a demo / audition so carry your favourite music / movie and go window shopping and prepare a list of systems that appeal to you in budget and performance...we can then help you further in making the right choice...also provide the prices ....

Your budget of 75k is good for a decent AVR+Spks+wires+cable etc....all you need to know is how big is the area where it will be installed and what appeals to you? Satellites / Bookshelf / Towers etc.

All the best..

guys thanks a lot for the advice, I have a room fo 200 sft. i did visit Profx, they showed me Polk, denon and heco. Heco ambiet 5.1a was good among them. I still need to visit Hifi Mart and cinebels. Profx is giving a discount on Heco ambient 5.1a amd denon avr x500 for 65K actual cost 95K.
They are insisting on Heco may be because they the sole dealer for it in India at present and are selling the brand for the last 3 months. I still need to hear wharfdale, boston and cambride audio.
Kindly also advice me on definite technology pro cinema 600, paradigm Cinema 100 CT. some one also told me that jamo is also good.
I have heard Heco till now and it seems ok among all. kindly advice.
Thank you

Hi guys a quick question.
Can a combination of speakers of the same frequency be used in a home theater format. eg I use floor standing and surround speaker made of PP cone, woofer made of hybrid Paper cone and center speaker made of kevlar cone.

I would recommend these,

Yamaha 375/377 paired with Tannoy TFX 5.1 kick ass combo and you can get it for around 70K.

You can also looks for Pioneer VSX 323/523 plus Tannoy TFX/Wharfdale MCP which is quite good combo.

I wouldnt recommend PRoFX as they are too pricey and the support is extremely poor.

Guys after a lot of thinking and looking around. I came to a conclusion that most of the product i have liked are expensive; it amounts to Rs. 2Lacs. SO i finally thought i should buy my HT in parts.
I still have 1 question if you guys can help out.
I wanna decide on a floor standing -
1. wharfedale diomond 100 series like the 155
2. Wharfedale diamond 10.6 or
3. Klipsch rf 62.
Please help

i have heard some pioneer floor standers, i was not impressed. my budget is 75K for towers. I have heard klipsch, jamo and polk. i liked the lows in klipsch however its too bright on the highs. Jamo i was not very impressed. Polk tsx 440 was good lack bass and rtiA7 is good but needs lot of power. unfortunately you dont get to hear all the speakers at the same place. its a bit confusing on what to decide.
however what about wharfedale diamond 155. can any one give me some reviews on that.

Hi vIvan,
you had mentioned that you heard some pioneers are you sure those are the pioneer andrew jones spfs52 floor standers, even i have heard the 823 mkii which is absolutely horrible, the andrew jones series is highly rated by audiophiles and critics, but hey at the end of the day you have to purchase what pleases you, i have heard the wharfedales(not sure if they were the Diamonds) back in the UK they are a bit laid back speakers, good luck with your quest even im the process of setting up a home theater with exactly the same budget. The best thing is that since you are in mumbai you have lot of options make good use of them, take the effort to go to as many shops as you can carrying your favorite music/movies an audition as many speakers as you can, and do keep posted on the review of different speakers that you have heard

Have u tried with Dali zensor 5 or 7?

Hi sujit, I have not heard andrew jones yet. I know some one who has it, I will take and audition next week. the new diamond 100 series from wharfedale has some good reviews; will do the audition next week.
Hi Poppy, not heard the dali yet; however many say that the high end speakers are better; i recon that must be over a lac.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
