Picked this up from Calypso today..couldn't resist. I've heard some really good reviews about this reissue (sound quality wise)! Was really happy to find it locally.



BTW, if anyone's interested..new stock arrived at Calypso today..Lots of Beatles, couple of Black Sabbath LPs, Norah Jones, Oasis, Lynyrd Skynyrd..few more I don't remember.

Parinda and Shareef badmash (both in VG+) were priced at 1500 each...the bengali LPs ranged from 500 to 1800; got them from Kolkata...awaiting Dil Padosi Hai of RDB, the seller has agreed to take installments from me for that LP

So, you have added some more discs to your growing collection. Good to see!
Just try to polish your negotiating skills a bit. LPs from Kolkata can be had much cheaper.

Thanks saket for the wise words...the LP of "dil padosi hai" is being sold @ 10k; i got an discount of 10%..do let me know when u'll be going to KOL next, so that u can pick some LPs for me too...my recent visit (dec 3rd and 4th week) wasn't at all fruitful as i kept travelling in and out of Kol..

Dear Abhraneel,

You will always find those greedy sellers or people who are trying to skim off those who can afford to pay such exorbitant prices for a vinyl record. The typical pitching they offer is that it's a very rare record or it's an RDB record or a Kishore Kumar. Also, before vinyls were back in vogue recently, these same LPs were being sold for 20 bucks. I have myself picked LPs at Rs. 30 and EPs at Rs. 10 each from Kolkata street side vendors. IMHO, there is no record worth Rs. 10K. That is simply crime to sell and more to buy a vinyl record at these insane prices. Just remember that back in the day, these LPs were priced at the max at Rs. 50-70/-.

During my short Kolkata stint last month (just 2-3 hours), I managed to get down to the record sellers, and found the burning train LP which is selling well around 3-5K mark! The seller quoted 1200 bucks for it in my case. I almost bargained it for 500 bucks, then felt even that is more for this LP. Did not go ahead with the deal. Bought some other titles that I had been looking.

The Garrard of course. The philips TT has gone for repair due to a speed issue
