Congrats ! truly awesome speakers (And Heavy !) , a classic, and far better than the floorstander version. apparently their only deficiency was the crossover and if that could be modded it played in a different level altogether.
Used to know someone in Singapore who had modded them and was addicted to them
I actually remember about that. I read it in a thread from long ago when i was doing research on the d830 that your friend did some mods to it for tweeter crossover, what exactly did he do, do you know? or how he opened the baffle?.
I too agree it is better than the floorstanding 870 version. I feel the 870 will not be as fast and punchy as the 830 and the beauty of the 830 is the overly simple crossover.
Hey corelement,
That is a lovely speaker. The only one I actually ever liked from the Jamo brand along its floor standing version.
Try and pair it with an amplifier which do not have any kind of brightness and you will be rewarded
Thankyou! Indeed the high range is supposed to be too forward on the 830 and is best matched with amps which are warmer. Luckily my CA 840a is relatively a warm amp. No harshness at all even at very high volume. I think it will be a match made in heaven.
