2.1 speaker set for TV/movies/music/occasional consoles

I am looking for a 2.1 setup. Preference is active speakers but I am open to passive speaker set as well with amps like Aiyima A07 Pro (costs roughly US$48/HK$375 with 36V6A adapter). TV as the source and I have US$200-250/HK$2000 equivalent to spend. I am open to pre-owned goods. My location is Hong Kong.

My TV is TCL C745. I can use optical cable. I also want Bluetooth capability.

My living room is about 12ft x 16ft. Since I am in rented apartment, I can’t change my TV unit which does not allow much space for getting AVR.

I want it to be better than my Hivi D1200 - specially the bass. I am by no means an audiophile but appreciate clearer, brighter sound.

Some of options I have read on web over past week are 1) Edifier R2850DB 2) Aiyima A07 Pro + Edifier T5 sub paired with some passive bookshelf speakers.

Between posting this thread yesterday evening and now, another option I have figured out is Hivi/Swans D300.

I am bit hesitant to jump gun on 1) Edifier R2850DB or 2) Hivi D300 without demo. For the Hivi, I tried to visit couple of distributors in Shenzhen over weekend but no luck as they did not have these in stock.

Any options/suggestions for passive speakers + active sub + Aiyima A07 Pro amp combo?

Will a pair of q acoustics m20 be in your budget?
if pioneer BS 22 is available in your place, you can pair it with an amp and sub. Entry level speakers from mission, fyne audio are good too.

Q Acoustics M20 are out of my budget. Cheapest option I could find is about HK$3000.

Some of Mission models are available like LX1, LX2 and QX1.

There would be pre owned systems being sold somewhere which will be in your budget and you may get something which meets your requirements. Check those.

If audition is not possible maybe end user reviews available over Youtube will help get some idea.

To update, I am in process of acquiring Edifier T5 sub - an active sub. I have also come across listing of Mission LX1, LX1 MKII and QX1 in local marketplace. I am shortlisting subs from Aiyima T9, T9 Pro or 'Decoder Amplifier'.

If deal for Mission speakers is not working out, I might just get Edifier R1700 and call it a day.
