I am feeling a bit frustrated.
I was supposed to receive a parcel with speakers (don’t ask which etc please) three days ago.
I have not received it yet.
Given the special days of Ugadi and Id I was prepared for delays.
On tracking I was amazed to find it marked “consignee not available “ again today. A lie, but this did not cause as much distress as trying to get a phone number for the company. I sent an email to the customer care but I am sure they have thousands of emails to respond. No reply so far.
I Tried several times to call 1860 023 31 23 which is supposed to be their helpline/ customer service contact; Number does not exist it says.
So, non delivery, false declaration that I was not available, no response to emails and a helpline number that does not work.
I am sitting here in Limbo waiting for my precious speakers to arrive safely and I have no idea what’s going on.
Now you know why I rant.

Non accountability for poor service is something that seems to be expected and even accepted, sadly in the public sector, (with a few exceptions).
We have been conditioned to believe the private sector is the answer to our prayers, albeit at extra cost.
But is this true?

If there is a local Blue Dart service in the vicinity, then better to go there physically & get hold of them for the phone numbers and status.
Else tag them on twitter/X and ask them the issue.

just visit the nearest Blue Dart office. They will be able to give the actual status.

I ah w been trying to find a number for the local hubs but there are no numbers available.
They don’t want to talk to customers it seems

just visit the nearest Blue Dart office. They will be able to give the actual status.
I need to do this? Seriously?
I should probably just go and pick it up myself.
The trouble is there are three Hubs around Bangalore…so which one first?

I received a reply from BlueDart. It’s just an acknowledgement unfortunately. Nothing about when I will get my package.
Try calling their helpline number and see for yourself 1860 233 1234

Hello
I am expecting delivery of a consignment AWN # 51613504250.
The tracking status update shows arrived at Bangalore and Consignee not available.
This is false and dishonest. I have been available at home waiting for this since three days.
My phone is active and I am receiving all calls as normal.
Your customer service number published in your website is invalid.
I chose bluedart thinking it is a reputable and reliable courier.

This is extremely low service standards and poor management.

I look forward to hearing back from your company representative soon or better delivery today.

Regards

Normal modus operandi for Bluedart, but they always deliver, and that number works only during working hours of the day ( i had a complaint and got it resolved last week by calling that number)
once you register a complaint they are quick in resolving

That is helpful to know. Thanks

Yes this is normal, this is the "Chalta Hai" attitude that we as a nation are famous for. No company is immune from it whether private or public sector. Anyways ultimately they will deliver. I have had this consignee not available from amazon, blue dart, Delhivery etc etc. all came through albeit in a delayed manner with falsehoods.
Cheers,
Sid

I don’t think it’s very different abroad. All these guys are messing up deliveries.

Recently I had a piece of equipment delivered to some wrong address in US and the courier kept saying it’s delivered and were unhelpful. Finally the guy to whom it was wrongly delivered sent it back to the courier. Else i would have never got that package.

Unfortunately I don't think in India anybody will return the package they wrongly got. Just my guess. In the US - UPS has the worst service, but if package is insured they will refund some amount. Fedex is usually better. Anyways since the OP posted his experience about domestic courier delivery I posted my experience.
Cheers,
Sid

Actually a couple of my parcels went to another society nearby with a similar name once. The person was gracious enough to call me to pick it up. I was glad that there are some honest people in this world :-).

I think the better delivery guys have now moved to Swiggy, Zomato and the like. They make more money there. So the standard courier guys are now left with the not so efficient delivery guys.

I was just worried about delayed delivery till now.
Now I am having visions of some random person receiving my packages and wondering how to assemble a pair of Pure Audio Project Trio 15s

You are definitely lucky, I have lost many packages - An A/C unit from amazon, some computer stuff by DHL, etc etc. Amazon I had to fight for 15-20 days to get my money back as it was 55k, since there was no OTP sent to my phone during delivery. DHL I just gave up, there was absolutely no help from them.
Anyways it is what it is. Hope the O/P gets his stuff safely.
Cheer's

My anxiety is growing
I am going to play some Buddha bar and meditate on the vagaries of life
Don't worry. It will get delivered. This has happened with me. When the courier centre is unable to deliver (like shortage of staff, too many deliveries, etc), they put the reason as "consignee not available". My guess is that, by doing this, the internal performance rating for appraisal doesn't get affected. Obviously doing this requires the manager or someone higher than the delivery guy to put a false reason. This has happened quite many times with blue dart and few times even with Amazon 8 years back or so. I did complain to Amazon the practice that Pune delivery guys are following. After 3-4 complaints, I have not faced this issue since then.

This is true. These messages are just for compliance and audit purposes. If you still feel impatient (like me), go to bluedart office and take the delivery, it's fastest way out.

They have three hubs around Bangalore. Looks like I will be spending time in the city traffic tomorrow

I am assuming these would have been insured, then it should be no issue and you shouldn't worry. It should be the headache of the shipper. Regardless, I am sure they will be delivered soon, as alluded to by different posters, this is a common, albeit, dishonest way of dealing by the courier companies domestically.
Cheers,
Sid

I am not sure about other places but this is a common practise now in Bangalore . For some areas it's blurdart, others Delhivery / DTDC likewise. The couriers more often than not are prompt in getting it from the hub to the last mile connection , then it's the local area franchise who delay it forever.

IMO , nothing to worry about it will come about tomorrow or day after. The reason when I ask is often cited to be limited delivery personnel & increasing loads over weekends & even more so during long weekends.
