Xtreamer Media Player (XMP) Owners Thread

guys. i have bought my lcd ( 42'' lg lh60yr) speakers i had (z-5500)..now only thing left is extremer.outta money now...so plannin to get xtreamer without wifi..later on will ad it.

1. where can i buy it in hyderabad ?
2. is there any way i can pay through card. ?
3. where to get the optical & hdmi cable from ?

To buy with card, its better to buy it from ebay.in.

Problem with xtreamer.in is you have to deposit cash/cheque in bank and that is a slight hassle.

igp_79, what was the final landed cost ? Wifi dongle bundled in ? Ebay guy has asked for extension till 13th April.

Hi murali,
sorry to be so late with the reply. I recieved the xtreamer a couple of days back. Sumit is really prompt to reply to any queries you have. by email or telephone. So doing business was easy. I got it for 7990 net, no shipping costs. An optical cable came as a freebie. but you can opt for a HDMI instead. according to his quote a wifi antenna would have cost a thousand extra

If you want to buy direct without going through NV trading, which i confess does have a rather roundabout payment option, you can pick up directly fom a hyderabad retailer:SOUND & VISION
T : +91-40-2776-4429
M : +91-98490-19080
ACCOUSTIC SOLUTIONS
M : +98661-66119 / 98496-96776
The cables, you can pick up at any big computer peripherals or electronics store. HDMI would cost you 250/- and Optical, around 200/-

I bought a Asus O!play. Now, I want to buy a Xtreamer Pro for my brother. To get the special pricing, I need to put in a current serial number from a Xtreamer. Can someone please PM me a Xtreamer Serial number please :)

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hey guys, I registered and now Im really confused:sad:! Just dont which of the following 4 media players would be the best bet at the moment!

1) Xtreamer

Xtreamer.Net - Specification

2) Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ HD Media Player

FreeAgent Theater+ HD Media Player | Seagate

3) WDTV Live (new one) HD media player

WD TV Live HD Media Player ( WDBAAN0000NBK )

4) Iomega ScreenPlay Director HD Media Player USB 2.0/Ethernet/AV

screenplay-director Iomega ScreenPlay Director HD Media Player Internet Edition, USB 2.0/Ethernet/AV: PC to TV Video Hard Drive

What are the pros and cons of each?
I need something which can play HD content as well as the basic torrent content on my Digital TV with no glitches and the supposed audio problem with some basic torrent content would be an absolutely no no! Playing youtube and internet access is not that important for me!

Thanks,
freeekychakra:-)

Ok, heres a secret - I dunno but Im somehow swaying in favour of the SEAGATE FREEAGENT THEATRE + but Im not sure if thats the right decision!!!

Hi freeky,

It is clear that you are in a confused state:lol: You have posted the query in a wrong section- Owners thread...

Do post a seperate thread for your query in media players thread or for sure there are lot of information available here... Kindly go thru that:cool:

Thanks dude! I have created a new post:)

Got mine yesterday :yahoo:

Sequence of events goes like this :-
1. Funds transferred electronically on Thursday at 11 am
2. Mail from NV trading at 3 pm that funds received and XMP dispatched
3. XMP + free HDMI cable delivered at 3 pm on Friday
4. Phone call from Sumit today to confirm that the item has been delivered properly

All I can say is WOW !! They sure take customer satisfaction very seriously.

XMP is up and running now thru HDMI and connected to USB portable HDD. I've got a version 2.0.2. Let me play with it for a while and then post reactions.

Re: About Blu ray drive

Since Xtreamer supports .m2ts, we just need copy Blu-ray to HD directly, and keep its all initial data without any change, including the .m2ts format, so there is no need to worry about if the backup files will get some video loss or something else unexpected.

The Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper Software is currently the best ripping software and surprisingly it can rip both DVDs & Blu-Ray Discs without the need of having a different Undo-Protection program. I have tried many brands of ripping software with poor results. PavTube Blue-Ray Ripper is a real "Swiss Knife". Additionally, I must report that conversion speed of DVD Ripping is really astonishing but I think ripping a Blu-Ray Disc is fairly slow but quite reasonable. The quality of the output video files is also superb.

Choose "Directly Copy", set destination folder

Click the drop-down list of "Format" to select "Copy" firstly, and then click on "Copy Directly" next to it. Meanwhile, press the folder icon in the opposite side of "Output" to specify save path of output files.

Download the demo version from Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper - Rip/convert Blu-ray DVD to AVI/MKV/MPG
One thing I liked about the demo version is that it ripped the whole movie, not just the first 2 minutes.

Many thanks for providing the info and link of the demo software. At present I am using AnyDVD to rip the BRs, I make .iso file of the BR, which plays directly, only problem is we cannot play any menus thereby any extras which are there on the BRs.
Thanks once again, I will try the ripper you suggested.

hi friends,
i've set my mind on buying Xtreamer but as the package does not include include a HDD im opting to buy an external HDD preferably 1TB storage space to play via USB.
- Im confused abt are there any copmatibility issue an HDD cud have with Xtreamer that we shud consider while buying an external HDD.

- plus does the Xtreamer play TRU HD, which i think comes in bluray rips ?
if yes how do u downmix it ,i have a 5.1 HTIB ,people keep mentioning it in this forum, frankly i have no idea wat 'DOWNMIXING " is !!:o
im new to all this, even the HTIB is new just bought it few days back

pls any good samaritans out there help me !

You don't need to worry about the make of the Hard drive. Just get any Seagate or WD 1TB external drive and you would be fine. Most of the time it'll come formatted as NTFS only.

thanx for ur reply !

i have a samsung home theatre 5.1 HTIB,i guess the dvd player is the reciever/amplifier all in one..so since i dont have a dedicated AVR but my dvd player processes DTS

if im playing an mkv file with DTS audio how do i connect the Xtreamer (as its 5.1 DTS PASS THROUGH) to get a good DTS EFFECT?
Xtreamer to HDTV - via HDMI
Xtreamer to DVD PLAYER - Optic cable
will this be enuff ?
if i sound crazy...i should warn u i dont even know what is the difference between audio pass through and downmixing feature !!!

Does the Sammy HTiB take optical as input and decodes the signal and amplify? If it can then you can use it. Why don't you post the model number of your Samsung HTiB?

An AVR downmixes when it is unable to process an audio format that is higher.
If the source supplies lossless sound (over HDMI) to a HD Audio capable AVR for processing, you will get the full lossless sound. If the AVR is not capable of processing HD Audio, it will downmix to lossy audio. For Eg: DTS MA HD gets downmixed to DTS 5.1, similarly Dolby Tru HD gets downmixed to DolbyDigital 5.1. Here DTS 5.1 and DD 5.1 are compressed lossy audio formats.

With the connection mentioned above, you will good DTS effect i.e, DTS 5.1but not HD audio. This is because your AVR/HTIB is unable to process HD audio. Secondly, Optic cable does not allow HD audio as it does not have the bandwidth to handle HD audio data.

I am assuming your HTIB have HDMI out. If it does, then check the manual or specs to see if it can process HD Audio formats. If yes, your connection needs to be

Source -> HTIB's HDMI IN
HTIB's HDMI OUT -> HDTV

BTW, I have mentioned it as Source above because Xtreamer cannot passthrough HD Audio yet.

hi santhol2..thanx
you mentioned
Source -> HTIB's HDMI IN
HTIB's HDMI OUT -> HDTV
but the problem is ,the HTIB doesnt have HDMI "in"... it has only "out" .the only inputs its has are optical-1 & audio input -1 , HDMI input - zero

ruffdaddyz, this means your AVR cannot process HD Audio. HD requires either a HD-DVD player or BluRay player/PS3 or a Network Media Player as a source. Since your HTIB does not have HTIB in and only have a DVD player inbuilt, it can only process compressed audio. Lossless is better in comparison but compressed audio itself is fantastic. So enjoy!!

Ordered a xtreamer on Ebay (got a 10% Ebay coupon). Should receive it on Saturday, will update this thread with my experience.

Final cost was 8000 including WiFi + HDMI cable.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
