Konfused, I know some members using an internal 500GB HDD without any heat/noise issues. But if heat is a problem, add the sidewinder heatsinc that is available through Xtreamer.India.Is it a good idea to put a 2.5 HDD in the Xtreamer? I'm bit worried about the heat that it generates. Will this be an issue? Have anyone using it like this? Also what max capacity can I get in India? I've seen only till 500GB at ebay for 2.5 inch drive and that too is like for 5000Rs. I can get a 1TB external drive for that price. But having a drive inside is bit of convenience in terms of moving it around.

thanks Santhosh, I'm planning for the Sidewinder at later point of time. I wish I hadn't hurried and waited for the Sidewinder factory fitted model (which also supports HD audio bitstreaming it seems).
Anyway, price seems to be double for 2.5 inch drives, I mean 500GB 2.5 inch is Rs. 5180 at ebay and for lil' lesser I get 1TB external drive (with powered ofcourse).
Just checked and found at lynx india that 500GB HDD (2.5") is Rs. 3255 (probably there will be tax added to it later). But for around 3k fro 500GB it would've been superb.
Can anyone guide me on the prices here? Probably the ebay one is bit too costly.
That's an awesome price you got. I hope they run similar deals soon as I'm running out of space in my drives(currently have one 1TB(seagate) and one 320GB(iOmega) drive for entertainment).I found ebay deals good for WD portable drives..
About 2 months back I ordered 1 TB Mybook essential external drive for 3720/- ..There was 20% discount for icici card holders..![]()
I think the ICICI offer ends only in June, so you could buy one even now. All you need is an ICICI Credit Card and IIRC, the amount will even be divided into 6 interest free installmentsThat's an awesome price you got. I think the Sidewinder heatsink is available for 1490Rs if bought separately. you can have a look at the price on Xtreamer.india's for sale thread.

I think the offer is closed,
ICICI Bank Credit & Debit Cards - eBay India
Missed the train again (EBay should have proponed the offer date)
By the way did you meant from EBay?
That is ridiculousebay preponed the offer date.. ICICI offer was ending 31st May..
ebay preponed it to 30th april..
Oh crap, I was planning to buy a few stuffs by end of this month and now no offer. Grrrr..
And the offer was only for the first time buy. So anyway won't be eligible for that offer. Now I'm just waiting to get the normal ebay coupons. I don't know when they are going to send the next one.
Hi folks, personally I recommend to always use the "emergency firmware update" any time a new firmware is posted. The reason for this is because this is a full install instead of just an "upgrade" and it will always ensure that the Xtreamer boots at the fastest time possible and wipes clean any residual "leftovers" from the previous firmware. (Think which is better -- doing a full, clean install of Windows or just upgrading over the old OS to the new release?) There is no need to install the regular update firmware after installing the emergency firmware (and "emergency firmware" is a bit of a misnomer. It should in fact be called "full firmware installation procedure").
