Why not ? It is one of the best BD Player in the market... No player has been specified or classified for small or large display. All are same.

Hi,

For 50" there should absolutely be no problem with the oppo Bd-80. However, as per the recommendation by Oppo on their website, they recommend Oppo BD-83 for larger screens (guess >100"). Not sure if there is a commercial component behind that recommendation, though I doubt that as BD-83 uses ABT2010 VRS by Anchor Bay for video processing while the BD-80 has something inferior to that.

For legit BR and DVDs the 80 is perfectly fine for 50" screens. Make sure your TV is calibrated well as otherwise you may see bright colours but they may not make for long viewing without eye strain. Search around for TV calibration as thats been discussed before.
