Got Oppo BDP-95 today

Would it not be simpler for Hassan to bring his Oppo over unless he is very particular about his own room acoustics and other electronics in the chain?

I am also interested in purchasing the Oppo BDP-95. I came to knwo that we can order online. But i was wondering how one can get around the DVD and Blu-ray region issue ? I presume Oppo will only sell the player for the US region.

Making Oppo 95 region free needs a hardware modification. You can get the board from bluraychip.dk and do the change yourself. You have to open the player and route a few cables through this board. It is a ten minute job.

Yes I did that for my Oppo BDP-80. Its a 10 minute job to fit the region-free kit.

Really good choice I can vouch for some of the qualities as I have been using BDP 83.

Also order region mod kit from NuForce as it is only 65$.

At the same time, I did have few issues with it.

1) In BDP 83 it was really hard to navigate between mp3 folders on USB without a TV Screen. In your case how are you using it.
2) CD drive was quite noisy in BDP 83, I guess they corrected it with 95.
3) Jumping between songs using > and < was not that good.

other than these three issues, Never had any problem.

Anybody willing to shell out for Oppo 95. Also check out mod it using ModWright.
You get both tube and region free mod.

Please also be proud that your player is essentially reused in more expensive brands like Ayre, Mark Levinson and other super expensive players.

It is same in BDP 95 also. TV is a must to navigate through USB or even MP3 CDs / DVDs.

AFAIK there are no official distributors.. the best bet is a fellow forum member who owns the Oppo.

Just like how McGraw Hill Indian edition books say "For sale in Indian subcontinent only".. but it never killed others did it?

Anyway I own an Oppo BD83 and it works a treat. The unit even has a universal power, you don't even have a buy a 110V->230V converter
