I have a Sony BDP-S370 connected to PJ Optoma HD20 and I regularly play video files from an ext HDD through USB.

However, some .mp4 files that I have are not playing. It gives a message that format not supported. Any suggestions on how can I change the file type to make it compatible.

Thanks in advance.

That might be the problem with the codec of the file. Try to use some free ware like anydvd convertor or any other application to convert the file to the format supported by your player.

Thanks.

One major point forgotten: I am a Mac user. So any software suggested should have a mac version.

HDD is FAt32 and connected to the front. The BDP is locked to a region depending on where you bought it from. It cannot be unlocked via firmware update.

Most of my files play on the BDP via USB. I suddenly encountered issues with this particular set of files. They play on the iMac correctly but not BDP.
