I don't think the size has anything to do with quality. It just has to do with the size of the socket the plugs need to go into. I'd mentioned the 2mm ones particularly, because gobble wanted the thinner type of plugs.
I think the 4mm size socket is more common, but you'll need to check with your equipment. You should get the size that is directly compatible with your equipment.
