i heard that Edifier DA5000 pro 5.1 speakers are very much near to logitech z 5500 with nearly half the price of logitech

any one using this speakers ?

is this speakers are best 5.1 ones for 7.5k ?

any good 5.1 below 10k ?

guys it is an old thread though but has anyone owned Edifier? I am on lookout for a HT system under 10K and DVD player is optional.

the DA5000 Pro is highly recommended for your budget PROVIDED you pair it with an amp. for that matter, any HT speaker system would only perform, say may be half of its capacity without an amp. am using the DA5000 Pro with my PC having xonar DX (which has a very good amp), and the difference in speaker output and SQ with the sound card and without the sound card is striking.

there are two more options that you could look for in case you dont get the edifier. this is from a new company named 'F&D' (or 'fenda'). but their products are really good. those two options are :

1. F5090 5.1 home theatre speaker | 5.1 Speaker System - i have this system hooked up to my TV, and its a beast ! am also going to get an amp very soon to pair it to. really a great system for movies and gaming, but NOT for music.

2. Buy F&D F-6000 Speakers at Best Price in India - Also find Specifications, Photos, Features & Reviews - this also is a good system. i have auditioned it, and performs well enough without an amp too. good for music playback too !

these two could be auditioned at 'MORE' shopping mall. prices may have increased by may be 1k, but would be still under 10k. you could read more about the 2nd set here :

F&D F6000 home theater - Digit Technology Discussion Forum

but if you are more interested in edifier DA5000 Pro, and have confirmed the stock-availability (check may be at MD Computers), then i would seriously recommend you get an amp if you dont have (or may be you could connect it to your AVR; sorry, not knowledgeable in this regard). the DA5000 Pro is an all-rounder system, and you would enjoy music too on this if you are not an audiophile ;)

let us know if you have any more doubts....

Thank you seekwer, very helpful post, hwoever I am on the lookout for a HT system with / without DVD player and no plans to have any amp in future. Does anyone of these have a remote controlled volume control and moreover I am in kolkata with no idea where they are sold here so online purchase will be a consideration.

The relevant thread with my requiremnts is below.

Hi seeker,

I have recently bought DA5000 Pro for Rs.9000(higher than market price :-( )
But anyways, please advise me how will I get best output out of it? If I connect it to my PC then I should install a soundcard (which one)? And what about amp? I have little knowledge about this. And if I connect it directly to my LED TV then how do I maximize my output. Please help me out here.

Thanks in advance !!

.

Is Asus XONAR an Amplifier? I do not thisnk so
It is a sound card working as decoder..also DA5000 Pro being powered one ,aleady have an Amp ,anh how you can attach amp to powered speakers?

my bad. yes i goofed up. thanks for pointing that out !....xonar DG/STX has got an amp (for headphones), but paired with the DX, i could make out the improvement in SQ with the speakers, esp. with games (i think the D/A converters do a very good job in bringing out the fine nuances in sound with these speakers). i use them with my PC.
hence recommended them to OP for use with TV with an amp if he wants so, for that 'marginal' improvement. cant say with surety about the effect of an external amp, but yes, due to its good multi-channel processing capability & handy GUI, i would really recommend the edifier to be used with a xonar for the PC

so i guess it could be said that to listen to some quality sound out of these speakers on a PC, a min. of xonar DG is recommended. for use with TV, not sure. but i have been using f&d speakers with my TV, and i could say that f&d speakers, esp. F5090 and F6000 have a really good amplification, better than DA5000 Pro. hence i chose the former of the two for my TV viewing.

First things first - Thanks for your prompt response.
My location - East Delhi, TV Room size -12 x 12 x 12 ft. give or take , PC room size is a bit smaller than TV room.
Now - my brother is also pushing me to buy PS3 in near future. So, if i do then also will i need amp or soundcard to improve SQ or if i connect my speaker with PS3, would that suffice?

P.S. Thanks for Bracket link

you are welcome !

going by your TV room's size, i could say my PC room too is sized similar to your PC room. with this size, rest assured that the edifier is going to rattle your windows :)

paired with the PS3, you absolutely dont need any amp. but yes, positioning of the speakers, esp. the rear ones, is very important ! do read up on some articles on how to position surrounds, or just PM me when you get the speakers.

P.S. - you will have to obviously decide which room are you going to place your speakers in. from your posts, i guess that your prime-requirement is movies + gaming, and less of music.

Spot on. My requirement- movies, gaming & music in that order. :)
I have already installed my speakers in my PC room and it rattle quite a few things & not just windows. Moreover I am going to get a new TV in my PC room :)

But I did not get surround sound effect i expected for a wonderful movie experience. For that i need a decoder, so PS3 should solve my problem i guess.

P.S. How can I PM you? can't figure it out. i need to ask you a couple of things, might as well ask here.
Can i connect headphones to my Speaker system?
All my speaker are same i.e vertical. Including the center speaker. Is that normal? I saw horizontal center speaker in pics online.

Thanks in advance!!

good to know you are enjoying the experience !

about surround effect, just see the RMS wattage of each satellite. the ones with the lowest are the rear speakers, thats because the rear/surround speakers are made to output the 'surround' ambient sounds, and thus not overwhelm you so as to muddle the output from the center or front speakers. (the center speaker is the main channel for dialogues). hence it becomes important to set-up your speakers properly.

adjust the front ones such that they are near-about the top of your ear-level and equidistant from your sitting position (and not too far away from the TV/monitor either), and with brackets like those from tono systems, you could also adjust them sideways to angle towards you.

the subwoofer should be placed on floor, but preferably on a (wooden) stand with legs/spikes. that way, you lessen the 'boom' effect and get more punch.

rears can either be placed sideways from your viewing position, or at the back of your head. preferable position should be a little over your head, or a bit above your ear-level (to create 'ambience' and not directly fire the output to fry your eardrums).

center satellite can be placed alongside your TV/monitor base, preferably horizontally. in my case, i've though put it on a wall-corner stand above my front speakers.

there are many good guides out there. you could try this one :

http://www.dolby.com/us/en/consumer/setup/connection-guide/home-theater-speaker-guide/index.html

moreover, and importantly, in the initial period, though you would enjoy the output, but you wont be quite amazed is what i feel. give some time for the 'burn-in' to take effect. depending on usage-hours, it may take a few weeks, and then one day when just as usual, you power-up the speakers and start with some game/music, i can assure you from the bottom of my heart that you would stand up to applaud loudly :clapping:
give it some time. good speakers/headphones get better-and-better with time.

also, i recommend you to download some HD movie samples with 5.1ch audio. this is important, because playing movies with 2ch audio wont help you notice anything out of the ordinary. you need to play some video with 5.1ch sound. and then tell me what do you feel. also, you could get some DVDs with good audio to test it out, like say godfather, or behind enemy lines. i would suggest you get this latter movie's DVD. and there are many more too. once you get your PS3, play some blu-rays to get awed, since the PS3 has very good A/V processing prowess and it would really enhance your blu-ray viewing experience :)

also, if possible, get a sound card, if not now, then later atleast. its highly recommended. you will really feel the difference. and there's much to configure and tweak around with audio settings with a sound-card's GUI (esp. in case of asus xonar series). you really would thank yourself for that.

P.S. - you could PM anyone by left-clicking on their username and then selecting 'send private message' from the dropdown menu.

The thing is at the back of my every satellite speaker it says -
D.c impedance: 4 ohms & load Power: 5-15 W. Now how do i recognize which one is rear & which one is not? Are my speaker even authentic?:o Now I am starting to worry a bit
And I know how to PM someone but its just that i am not getting an option to send a PM to you from the drop down menu. I don't know why. and i assume it is against forum rules to share your email id. So how do i get in touch with you personally? You have been of so much help but I have a lot of questions left I need to ask.

Please advise.
Thanks.

Actually now that I read carefully, what I have bought is Media pro series from grey market. I feel so stupid because it like so old a model. Have any idea if they are as good as the recent ones?

oh, i see ! so apart from the subwoofer, how many speakers has the system got ? 2, or 4 ?
because this is what a DA5000 Pro 5.1 system looks like. you can find the system-specs too on this page :

5.1 Multimedia Home Theater Speaker - DA5000 Pro | Edifier

you could sell these speakers if you want and get the DA5000 Pro instead. even a used one would do, since its difficult to find this model.

and i think you are unable yet to PM me because you are new here. it will take some time for that option to get enabled for you. or see if you could PM 'venkatcr' who is a mod, then request him if he could enable this for you.

can we connect da5000 pro to any amplifier and then connect it to TV for better results ? if yes , please suggest some low range amps (my room size is 13x11)
thanx

i dont think these would benefit from ext. amp, as these are active speakers (which have inbuilt amplification). but if you could wait for a few days, i could let you know, because even am on the hunt for an amp for some different speakers, and could try that with the edifiers too.

Sure, I can wait. And what do you think, these speaker that I have are good? They have inbuilt amp you said. And moreover, most probably I will connect them with PS3, if not then my PC - for that I will buy a Xonar DX as you suggested. In either of the case, do you think I will get surround sound effect from these speakers?

And can I connect headphones on these speaker?
Thanks.
