Spot on. My requirement- movies, gaming & music in that order.

I have already installed my speakers in my PC room and it rattle quite a few things & not just windows. Moreover I am going to get a new TV in my PC room
But I did not get surround sound effect i expected for a wonderful movie experience. For that i need a decoder, so PS3 should solve my problem i guess.
P.S. How can I PM you? can't figure it out. i need to ask you a couple of things, might as well ask here.
Can i connect headphones to my Speaker system?
All my speaker are same i.e vertical. Including the center speaker. Is that normal? I saw horizontal center speaker in pics online.
Thanks in advance!!
good to know you are enjoying the experience !
about surround effect, just see the RMS wattage of each satellite. the ones with the lowest are the rear speakers, thats because the rear/surround speakers are made to output the 'surround' ambient sounds, and thus not overwhelm you so as to muddle the output from the center or front speakers. (the center speaker is the main channel for dialogues). hence it becomes important to set-up your speakers properly.
adjust the front ones such that they are near-about the top of your ear-level and equidistant from your sitting position (and not too far away from the TV/monitor either), and with brackets like those from tono systems, you could also adjust them sideways to angle towards you.
the subwoofer should be placed on floor, but preferably on a (wooden) stand with legs/spikes. that way, you lessen the 'boom' effect and get more punch.
rears can either be placed sideways from your viewing position, or at the back of your head. preferable position should be a little over your head, or a bit above your ear-level (to create 'ambience' and not directly fire the output to fry your eardrums).
center satellite can be placed alongside your TV/monitor base, preferably horizontally. in my case, i've though put it on a wall-corner stand above my front speakers.
there are many good guides out there. you could try this one :

moreover, and importantly, in the initial period, though you would enjoy the output, but you wont be quite amazed is what i feel. give some time for the 'burn-in' to take effect. depending on usage-hours, it may take a few weeks, and then one day when just as usual, you power-up the speakers and start with some game/music, i can assure you from the bottom of my heart that you would stand up to applaud loudly :clapping:
give it some time.
good speakers/headphones get better-and-better with time.
also, i recommend you to download some HD movie samples with 5.1ch audio. this is important, because playing movies with 2ch audio wont help you notice anything out of the ordinary. you need to play some video with 5.1ch sound. and then tell me what do you feel. also, you could get some DVDs with good audio to test it out, like say godfather, or behind enemy lines. i would suggest you get this latter movie's DVD. and there are many more too. once you get your PS3, play some blu-rays to get awed, since the PS3 has very good A/V processing prowess and it would really enhance your blu-ray viewing experience
also, if possible, get a sound card, if not now, then later atleast. its highly recommended. you will really feel the difference. and there's much to configure and tweak around with audio settings with a sound-card's GUI (esp. in case of asus xonar series). you really would thank yourself for that.
P.S. - you could PM anyone by left-clicking on their username and then selecting 'send private message' from the dropdown menu.
