Hello all,

I was seriously considering the Wharf's Diamond 9.5 with 9.1 and 9CS for my HT Speaker pack to use with Yamaha RXV 671 ( already with me ) and JBL ES 250PW. How does this choice compare with the Obsidian HT 5 speaker package? Help and guidance needed from pros in this forum :)

Yes, but more power is always better. These low end AVRs always over rate their power. Drive the 9.6s with more powerful amp and you can hear the difference is earth and sky at low volumes.

Thanks Kittu, but the AVR has already been acquired..... budget constraints....so I guess I'll have to stick to 9.5F/standers+9.1Rear surrounds+9CS

Ask the dealer to give you a home demo on the 9.6 and 9.5s and decide. Everything may sound super in audition room , reality reveals after you make the payment , get them home and play.

Thanks Kittu....that seems to be a good plan. Let me talk to the dealer, and see if thats possible. Do dealers normally give home auditions? Some do I guess, I recently took a home demo of the violet 3d setup...... conceptually good but lacking in all areas of SQ.

Need not regret. 671 is a powerful receiver and blends well with Wharf Diamond series speakers. I too laid my hand on 671 and Wharf Diamond 10 series of speakers (all six one) from New Delhi. Yet to connect all speakers for space constraint but very happy with FS and Sub connected yet.
By the way which dealer you are in touch with.

I had a demo @ Rhythm Corner South Ex and plan to talk to Denny @ Bass & Treble Gurgaon for home demo of Wharfs Diam.9.5 Etc. Any Suggestions Mr. Tyagi?

I too zeroed in on Rhythm Corner after exploring two dealers at CP and telephonic talk with Bass n Treble Gurgaon.
Mr. Santosh at Rhythm Corner is a supportive guy but you need to apply your negotiation skills before freezing the order.
All the best.

Yes Mr. Santosh @ Rhythm Corner is offering a measly 8% on MRP. SO definitely worth looking elsewhere. How was your experience @ Bass n Treble?

I only talked over phone. Bass n treble did not have Yamaha. Prices quoted for speakers were close to MRP. Moreover for longer distance from Ghaziabad, I dropped Bass n treble.
With Rhythm you need to further negotiate and if you have better offer, quote the same to them and insist to match it. I hope you will get good deal.

Went to Bass n treble for a demo of wharfedale and Tannoy. Could not try them on my Yamaha 671, but need help/suggestions from pros here on choosing between wharfs and tannoy for FS to be used with Yamaha 671,

Vivek,

I've been a Wharfedale 9.5 fan ever since I picked up a pair about 4 years back. They are amazing speakers and sound a lot better than many more expensive models. Incidentally I did a comparison with the 9.6 and I was stunned at how much better the 9.5 sounded for music. The 9.6 were huge impressive looking speakers compared to the 9.5 but when played next to each other the 9.5 were clearly more rounded as a speaker. Thats my opinion however you should always check yourself.

I looked up the Yamaha website and compared the specs. You should be fine. Just to make sure here are the links I've taken a look at.

Congrats. Looks like you've put together a nice system so far.

Thanks Nikhil,
for all the info. I have the same opinion about the wharfs. But another brand on the radar now is Mordaunt Avaino 6 FSs. Any views on that? Thanks in advance :)

hi guys, has anybody here auditioned the wharf diamond 10.7 with the yamaha 671 ?
Whats the best price currently for the yamaha 671 and the wharf diamond 10.7 ?

I just possessed this combination plus other speaker to complete the HT setup but yet attached the 10.7 and sub woofer 10cs. I am more than satisfied with the performance both in music and movie departments. Music in straight (only using front speaker but processing the audio) and "pure direct" (only front speakers without digitally processing) is just soothing.
