There's just something really satisfying about watching cheesy TV shows like these with the brain off on small to medium sized CRT's instead of huge flatpanels. :D

Gives me a sense of 1990's in India.

Does anyone else feel the same?

I switched on the TV after a period of 10+ years last December and I opted for a 29" CRT rather than a FlatPanel. I'm not regretting it. Yes those CID and horror serials were fun - are they still running? :)

Yes ofcourse! CID just completed 15 years. It's super fun to watch. Very satisfying on a level of epic cheesiness.

I wish they would release all CID episodes ever made. Same with office office.

I remember a CID episode where they picked out a half eaten boiled egg from the belly of a murder victim, then on the spot calculated how much digested it was and the digestion rate of a boiled egg for a adult human being, and concluded that the victim had died at time theek HM:MM baje! :ohyeah: :ohyeah: :ohyeah:

I've been a fan of this teleserial ever since

How about Byomkesh Bakshi ?
It was one of the best detective serial I have ever experienced !
Rajat Kapoor doing all the investigations sans technology !!
Remember horrifying watching few episodes like 'Ret Ka Daldal' ;-)

I can't forget the 'Saaya' episode of Zee Horror Show.
Vikranta Jabbar ...played by Surendra Pal (Guru Dronacharya of Mahabharat)...was the most horrifying character indeed !! I do imagine him whenever I think of a ghost !

This is ACP praduman when he's curious!

Byomkesh Bakshi is/was the best intellectually investigative serial in India ever (and the way entertainment industry is trending towards general dumbness - I can safely say in future too).

You could actually use your thinking gears along with Byomkesh to arrive at same conclusions! The serial showed everything - you just needed to notice - like real life scenario.

Unlike most other investigative series. Where everything is unraveled at the end - because the protagonist knew something extra too.

"Daya, pata karo ye anda kis murgi ka hai"

...and then Daya goes interrogating every chicken in town. The third chick they talk to, Daya gives it a tight slap and it spills the beans...um...eggs...

What about 'Tehqikaat' by Vijay Anand. Just saw a DVD box set of this serial...that was great too, and so was Feluda. Byomkesh was the indian version of Sherlock Holmes. Not sure if you'd notice everything...it was in the end when the great Byomkesh would assemble everybody in a room and go "...mujhe to ussi din shaq ho gaya tha jab..."

Wow Man...'Tehqikaat' was the second best in my list after Byomkesh Bakshi !! I too saw the DVD box of entire series six months ago at Planet M and bought it straight away.
Got the Byomkesh bakshi as well few years ago via its Orkut fan group, where one user has recorded all its episodes when it was re-telecast on DD Bharti.

I also liked one horror serial quile ka rahasya or something - but then I was too young.

Any interested users in NCR for watching Tehkikaat and Byomkesh Bakshi, can PM me and I'll be happy to share these great detective serials.

Kile ka rehasya was quite scary but maybe that was coz I was a kid back then...can't quite remember how it ended though...it had a pretty haunting title score...
