Monitor Audio RX 6 setup and review

Hi Friends,
some time back, after lots of reserach , help from this forum and auditioning of various speakers, I finally decided to go with Monitor audio RX 6. got the lovely rosenut colored silvers delivered to my place. I spent sometime experimenting with various settings and placement and thought sharing my setup and views will help somebody who is in same boat and situation which i was in, some time back.
Source .. I have my songs mostly in lossless , ripped in WAV format. played directly through the marantz 5006 A/V receiver.
Music genres -Hindi songs, easy listening(yanni , enya.. ) kailash kher,Mohit chauhan, bryan adams,billy joel,ghazals and many more

1. my room is 20 X 10 . initially the bass was overlapping probably because speakers were placed just 6-8 inch from wall. RX 6 have twin port. I used port bungs for rear port and that made the bass more controlled and punchier
2. I am past running in period of 40-45 hours.. the sound is much improved than the out of the box speakers. not sure but I think i need to run in 40-45 hours more
4. configuring marantz 5006 for Bi-Amping, made the RX6s sound much cleaner and improved the highs. for me marantz is a good match to these speakers

Very much happy with the current sound and enjoying the music even more..!!

Congrats @vkhandelwal. I became a fan of Monitor Audio too. Like you said, I found the audio quality started improving after 40-45 hours only. Looking forward for more.

Congrats on a fine purchase. I have RX6 and had problems with bass boom as well. I used the spikes that came with the speakers and that improved the bass tremendously.

congrats vkhandelwal. as you listen to music you will realise that there will be sounds present that you didnt hear before. what also helped me with my rs6 is to take out the brass interconnects between the highs and lows and just run the speaker wire through it. makes and audible difference

Thanks ! I have already removed the interconnects as I am using two different cables to connect the high range and mid/low range. I am bi-amping the speakers. certainly makes a difference to sound.

Marantz 5006 is a 7.1 channel receiver. Two channels can be used for either zone 2, front height/rear speakers or to bi-amp the front speakers. Two separate channel is being used to drive the highs and mid/low of rx6. Discreet channel provodes cleaner output as powerful separte channel along with cables is used for highs and mid range/woofer. This is better than bi-wiring

Do you bypass internal crossover of the speakers in the method that you have used for bi-amping?

Somewhere I read that to realize real benefits of Biamping, you need to use active crossovers and bypass the internal passive crossover of the speaker (for that one needs to open up the speaker and physically disconnect the internal XO). The benefit of this bi ampming is that there is nothing between the speaker and amp except the cable and the amp has excellent control over driver movement.

So the chain is Source>>Active XO>>> 2 separate stereo amps >> one amp drives tweeter and the other drives woofer without internal crosover in circuit.

Biamping is very much possible with an AVR which has 5.1 or 7.1 analogue ins. From active XO, the mid/woofer output goes to front channel input of AVR and the tweeter output goes to rear channel input of AVR. The mid/woofer terminal of the speaker is connected to front speaker output and tweeter connected to rear channel output of AVR but even for this, one needs to remove the speaker's internal crossover from the chain.

If active crossover is not used and if the passive crossover is not bypassed then it was called as pseudo biamping in that article in the sense that there are two separate amplifers are used but the benefit is limited just to control the volume of tweeter and mid/woofer separately.

Of course this is just theoretical>
Whatever method/manouvre gives you better sound is good for you.
