Hi gurus,

I am super excited...I bought my first projector!!!! :yahoo: My friend bought the PJ (Benq W1070) in the US and would be carrying it for me here in August. I just don't want to fire it up that day and realize I got a faulty piece (and no warranty :(). I was wondering if the gurus here could offer me some tips/tests on how to check for its "okayness" before he carries it here.

Really appreciate your inputs. :)

Thanks,

The basic test I carried out, included:

1. Power up the projector.
2. Test possible input types, VGA, HDMI (most imp), AV, audio in and out.
3. Project an image and check all controls on the projector are working, including zoom and focus, in case they are mechanical ones.
4. Get a slide image with color patterns and wheels to ensure proper color reproduction.
5. Test remote control functions.
6. A bit difficult, but try with a complete black image or a dark scene to check presence of any dancing or dead pixels.
