Hello all expert DIY Ppl,

My excellent performer Heco victa 301 is down from few days ago due to damage of Mid/Bass driver(due to Improper handling in my absence)

As per the information written on back side of driver its part name is 'heco s-kp 480 d 170'.

I tried many possibilities of getting this part form Germany but no luck.

Finally I have decided to get it replaced with suitable drivers available locally in India and keeping other components like twitter , crossovers unchanged.

I was not able to get original specs for the driver but below is specification for speaker pair.

Mid/bass Driver size 170 mm
Power handling (RMS / max.) 80/150 Watt
Impedance 4 - 8 ohms
Frequency range 34-38000 Hz
Crossover frequency 3200 Hz
Recommended amplifier power 30 - 150 Watt
Efficiency 90 dB

Please help me for finding replacement to this driver.

- I am changing Mid/Bass driver from both speakers
- My budget is 3K INR per driver
- Original drives has 8 screw holes hence it will be better if i get same for replacement driver

So far I was able to find only this which is somewhat closer

Peerless - 6.5" Kevlar Woofer - M16KI

Thanks In advance.

Just ran into this thread. I don't visit HFV very often. But I do know that Shyam Bajaj of Norge (Eastern) happens to have 2 pairs of 17cm Wavecor midwoofers that might work. One pair is the BD03 and the other the BD04 (the former is 4ohms the later 8 ohms). Here are the specs.

I would suggest you contact Shyam.

Thanks for info Mr Navin.

But Mr Shyam does not have these drivers in stock.
He said that If have make special order then minimum amount of drivers should be 20.

So this option is not left for me.

Hi,
The best option now will be to recone both the mid woofers .What is the actual damage ? can you post a pic.

Somak

Does it look similar ?

Cheap stamped frame .Best will be to recone the same

The new model Heco victa prime 302 is on sale in Hyderabad for ~20k. You can consider going for this.
The same dealer has a service station where he repairs speakers/amps. You can send it here. it might take around a month but he will get it fixed. It might cost lesser.

Vector systems - Hyderabad.

@vardesh: I already called Reverb Systems for help but they does not deal with Spares. They only Sale Heco speakers.

@hifiramr: Company asked to contact Reverb Systems :D

@somakmaitra : It looks like coil has damaged. No visible cone damage I am seeing. When I try to press speaker cone hand its gives me cracking sound even though speaker is off.

@BLASTO: Let me contact vector system and he if they can help.. I will update here accordingly.

Hi .
The creaking sound indicates voice coil touching the pole piece take your speaker to a good reconer in mumbai, they will just change the coil and the spider .Tell them to use the same cone as it appears to be a papyrus cone .measure the coil resistance for both the speakers your are done .Now you get excellent quality voice coil .Do not use a new drive unit of different make as it will require a fresh crossover design.

Somak

As noted earlier, it's not a high-end driver where only the exact replacement parts will work. This looks like a fairly middle-of-the-road rebranded Chinese-made driver with stamped frame and average-quality pole-piece and magnets.

You can consider replacing the whole driver with a similar surplus one of the same size and impedance, or just have the cone and coil replaced locally. Drivers will run to about Rs.150-300, and the coil and cone alone to less than Rs.150.

Vector systems is ready to do repair work for my speaker driver. But sending speakers to Hyderabad seems hectic for me right now as he is asking to send complete box instead of just drivers.

Considering my limited budget, locally reckoning seems to be good option for me though I will not get same sound quality with it.

Lets see how it goes. I will update here accordingly. Thanks all for the helpful replies.

Any other ideas of getting original drivers are also welcome.

Hi,
Check the coil resistance and coil height and match the replacement coil use the existing paper cone you will not hear any diff

Are you sure, he offered me these drivers not 1 week ago. He had a pair of 4ohm and a pair of 8 ohm available then. I did not take them as I do not want to start another project besides I did not have a pair of suitable tweeters.

BTW I just realised I have a pair of Vifa TC 18SG45-08 and TC26 SF05-06 just sitting on my shelf for many years. If they work for you, you can have them. They are shielded drivers bought in the day of CRT television sets but they look to be in good shape. No money is required.

I am in Prabhadevi, Mumbai.

@ Navin,

Yes , Mr Shyam told that they dont have anything in stock now. I think he does not entertain random callers like me. :D.

Nice to see that you have vifa driver in stock.

I will contact you soon.

Thanks.

Posting on this thread after long time.

I got replacement for driver imported from Germany. :)

Fortunately my bother in law been to Germany for short term. I ordered it from heco customer care. They delivered it to his address in 3 days. I got them after two months when he came back. I got it for 3000 INR all inclusive.

But the mystery is .... When I powered on speakers with my old drivers after many months , it is not showing any problem now :D:D:D:D

Whatever ... sound is back in life .... I have one driver in spare for now. :)
