Acer H5370BD - Impressions

What is the black line on left of the screen,
I ammalso planning to buy this projector but price at Amazon is $499, waiting for it to come down till 5th of this month else will order an 1080p full hd projector for arnd $675 as it did not nake sence to spend $500 on a 720p projector

It would make sense to go for the 1080P one, my projector is 6 months old. It was lying in US and couldn't find anyone to carry it (till yday..)..

But i wouldnt complain much bcos most of the content in Tata Sky HD is 720p , so i am happy for the next 2 years ..

Guys,

I have an APC RS 1000 - 1000 VA UPS which i use for my PC(pls find the product link below). Can I use the same for the projector.

Buy APC Back-UPS 1000VA 230V - Technical Specifications and Information | APC

I already have an inverter at my home, so i might go for a simple UPS for my PC just to manage the 1 sec switch time.

First of all congratulations on becoming member of the Acer PJ owners club :clapping::clapping::clapping:

On the UPS part, I picked up a Microtek 1KVA projector and it is not able to support the projector - now Microtek support has agreed on replacing some controller circuit board in the UPS to make it work with the PJ.

Have read on the forum that APC BR1000 is able to support projectors with wattage requirements around 300W. This model's wattage is indicated at 235W - so hope your model should work.

Thanks Anand. I would be very happy if my UPS works cos i don't want to spend another 8 to 10K on an UPS. Want to invest that on a good screen.

BTW with 15.6 feet from my PJ to the wall, i get a 114" X 66" image with a diagonal length of 130". Main issue is that i have a window + curtain rod which i cannot alter, so planning to go for a ceiling mount screen with a gap of 2 to 3 inches from the wall. The main disadvantage is that it will flutter if there is a little bit of breeze either due to the fan or the main door. Any Suggestions on how to overcome that.

Thanks

Finally ordered Optoma HD131xe full hd projector from Amazon.com for $665 (got $100 gift card free) around INR 47k with free shipping (using shipandshop to get it delivered to dubai and than carry it india later this month) so will cost another 2 3 thousand rupeed so 50k for a full hd projector+$100 gift card is not a bad purchase I think

Does any one need a pair of 3dtv corp glasses, please let me know as I ordered from amazon but the seller sent only 2 instead of 4 and now can only send pending 2 if I buy another 2 due to higher shipping cost

I also have the same set up of the screen which is 8 feet by 6 feet and is manual pull down. Its cheap too at around 5700 bucks. It runs down over the window curtain rods.it does not need to be celing mount. It can be fixed on the wall above the window with the help of the brackets. Its quite heavy too and does not flutter. Obviously need to close the windows while watching.
Any way I have completed 100 hrs of fun with h5380. 3D is really good.

Can you tell me the brand of the screen. BTW i am in HYD.

Hi Everyone,

This long weekend's DIY for me is to set up the projector mount. Currently since I have the manual set up, I use my projector once in two months..hopefully if I mount it on the ceiling, it will be a more permanent affair and i will switch it on atleast on weekends. Few questions

1) I got a engineer cousin coming over..hopefully we can do it ourselves? no professional help needed?
2) I got the 5360 now, but my team member is going to US next month - so if I can catch hold of 5370BD or the full HD one for 500 bucks...dont mind. Please keep me informed on the deals. I already got 4 pairs each of both the Sainsonic for projector and also Samsung 3D glass for my TV
3) Hence I want an affordable, flexible mount which can accommodate different models. On my ceiling I got hanging lights, fans...hence the mount needs to be flexible. - stretch/tilt..etc
4) I can order online or go to SP Road.
5) Please let me know some options and apprx price
6) I already have a 15 or 25 foot HDMI from Amazon. hopefully the power connection cable I can get from my neighborhood electrical..anything else I need to buy at SP Road?
7) Also will the 3D Sainsonic glasses I bought 1.5 years back work on the latest projectors? I have seen website mention about 144HZ now...wasnt there 2 years back.

Urgent replies please since I plan to go to SP Road tomorrow itself..hopefully it will be open

The brand is LOGIC. I got it locally in pune. I had gone for 4:3 screen as it is cheap as compared to 16:9 format. But as it is quite big screen, 16:9 format mode from the projector works well. Obviously the lower and upper portions of the screen are unutilized while watching 16:9 format. You can minimize the lower portion by opening the screen as required. Dont pull it to the maximum.

Manish, Thnx for the reply.. Can you find out the price for the 150" screen listed on their website.

Guys, PJ has arrived, 3D glasses on their way.. Now I am frantically searching for a screen. Folks in Hyderabad , please help me out with contacts of dealers in screens. There are tons of brands on ebay and amazon.in, like Screen Technics, sunlite, elite etc. Of course we have Liberty/Grandview though they are on the higher side. The biggest pain is that there are no places where you could go and see the screen. Just bargain , it gets delivered and no returns . So i am really worried if the screen turns out to be a dud and i cant exchange or replace it. BTW the screen size i am looking is 130" diagonal. (should be more than 9' 5" x 5' 5") .

I checked the price of Liberty 10 x 8 (150") manual screen , its 11K with Tax. The screen is a Vega Manto series of Liberty which is a re-branded version of Vega (VEGA) a Chinese based company in HK. Anyone using similar screen, pls let me know of its quality.

Hi Leo,

Hope your APC BR1000 works with the projector. An update for those looking at buying Microtek. I picked a 1000VA (1KVA) UPS from Microtek and it was not able to support the projector load. Multiple calls with their support team (which is surprisingly quite responsive) and a couple of visits from their technicians - now the UPS works. As per Microtek, their UPS are primarily for computers. They had to replace the circuit board and transformer in the new UPS to support the projector. As per the technician, one can call and buy from Microtek a 1KVA UPS to work out of box by telling them the purpose in which case they pre-configure the UPS circuit board to support it. BTW I paid Rs. 4100 for the UPS.

Had I known all the hassles of changing a circuit board and transformer upfront would have shelled extra money to buy APC BR1000.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
