If you want to upgrade or purchase new CYBERLINK POWERDVD 17 ULTRA software ,then it seems , now is a good time.

I have been waiting for the same for a long time, so wanted to share ,so that if somebody wants to purchase or upgrade can benefit from it.

For Upgrading:

Earlier after discounts + coupons , the minimum price possible was = ₹ 2000/- approx

Cyberlink IMHO is a very good option as it is quite stable and you also get updates from time to time and you can also post in cyberlink forums if you have any problem.

what sweetened the deal for me is that with the upgrade as i am also getting a lot of free software's such as "Media Expresso 7.5", which can now convert 4K video files, 4K videos can be converted to H.264 or H.265 versions (yet to try).
Other free software's are "Power2Go 11 Platinum", CyberLink Screen Recorder" and "Power Media Player MR" along with 30 GB cloud space

How is PowerDVD compared to Kodi / MPC?
Is it worth spending 2K on PowerDVD, if my playback is limited to 1080p?
Please advice.

Cyberlink is very user friendly and quite stable( rarely hangs my PC) , if later on you want to add ultrahd drive and play ultra hd discs (not much compatible hardware available as yet), It can play bluray files with all the menus etc, picture quality is much better now with pdvd ultra 17 and good support and updates.

Kodi + madvr requires high end hardware configurations, as it uses lot of hardware resources to be entirely beneficial. Though many people do report getting good results with moderately good hardware. But there is a lot of customization you need to do before you get good results with an average hardware configuration. I use both, but like powerdvd more, due to ease of use only.
