Xtreamer Media Player (XMP) Owners Thread

Hi all,

I would like to know:

1. How long anyone has used the Xtreamer continuously (how many hours) - like when watching movies back-to-back? 4 hours, 6 hours ... ???

I have run my xtreamer continuously for 8 hours non stop and never faced any issues.

2. Anyone faced problems due to the unit being heated?

Till now i have not faced any problems of the unit getting over heated. But sometimes the unit won't switch on after pressing the remote then i need to do a power cycle, turn the power off and back on and it works fine. This happens once or twice in a period of 15 days. Even after firmware update some time this issue pops up don't know why ?

3. I am using Version 2.01 now. What could be the optimum fan speed? I did not change anything and is now the default - whatever it is.

I am also using the same firmware version and i am not able to heard much fan noise, it is still working on the default setting that came with the firmware.

4. Unit is on table, not enclosed. But unit feels little warm. So far I have not faced any actual problem, but just wanted member feedbacks

There is a new xtreamer cooler passive heat sink which many users are putting. Probably we can ask Sumit from Xtreamer india to procure the same.
Its called as Xtreamer XSC

Here are a few links on the same -

5. In WDTV, there is supposed to be facility wherein the unit scans for media files in the attached USB drive and creates / saves the media library in the disk. In this way, user can access from the media library (seen as thumb nail images) without browsing through a lot of directories to play any media. Is there any such facility in Xtreamer? I am unable to see how to do

I have not tried the same so no idea about this.

On the xtreamer.net website i saw this posted --

Does this mean from 1st dec if anyone orders e-Trayz it will cost 99 Euros + 25 shipping

Hi all,

A trivial question perhaps!!

Does the Xtreamer actually gets "fixed" on the base plate? For me, it just seems to sit on the base, with just a little groove - it is not actually fixed. It falls off easily over the side.

Thanks
Churfsan

It stands fine on the base along with cables attached, you need to push the base in properly till it goes in and gives a click. Then it will be stable and you will not face any issues.

Noking did u order E-Trayz ?
If yes where did u order from ?

Thanks, I will try today!

Sorry to be a bother, but do we push it down vertically on the base, or do we slide it from the front and then push back?

I think I did not actually "fix" it, because I did not get any 'click' sound. I was a little worried something may break

Thanks

You don't need to push down, just slide till you hear it click.

Hi I'm using my pc DVD drive to stream DVDs/divx/axxo rips don't have a blu-Ray so wouldn't know but I guess it should be possible.
Regards.....

Hi,

There appears to be a demo on youtube which shows the Xtreamer playing a bluray movie from a PC drive. However, Xtreamer is supposed to be not able to read encrypted discs. The demo setup uses a software - AnyDVD - which removes the protections (I believe, as per the website etc,). Then, from Xtreamer, we can browse the disc and play.

I do not have a bluray drive, and hence cannot confirm with any certainity.

Hope this helps

I don't have a blue ray drive in my pc, but i am able to play the m2ts files copied directly from a blue ray disk on a thumb drive with xtreamer. So in case if you are not able to play directly , u can copy the same on a hdd or thumb drive and play.

They do look awesome on my Sammy Q9, the PQ is mind blowing for these files

What about region code / encrypted Blu Ray discs ?

Thanks for the reply
What about region code / encrypted Blu Ray discs ?

There are softwares avaliable on the net (try googling) which disables the region coding of the BD's while copying them onto your HDD, after this is done you can play the same on Xtreamer with ease.

Hi XTREAMER owners,

Any news with HD audio decode/bitsream, when the pervious firmware was released, Ashish had checked, but still not supported ................ so wondering any further improvements is going on with any new firmwares to fix the same.????

Thanks.

P.S:- Just curious about HD audio, though i'm not an Xtreamer owner.

I have brought the Xtreamer with 2 wireless usb antenna. I have no knowledge of networking, I read on the Xtreamer page that you can get two usb antenna and attach one on Xtreamer and another on PC and can have a dedicated wireless network. It seems that there is nothing mentioned in the manual for this, though I tried but could not connect both. I would like to do following:

1. Transfer media files via wireless from PC to Xtreamer
2. Watch movies using Xtreamer, accessing the files from PC via wireless to avoid transfer time. (just as if we are watching online).

Please let me know how best I can do this, is a wireless router required or can I do without the router? I do not want to watch movies online from the internet.

Thanks
Manish

You can connect the Xtreamer to PC without router, using an Ethernet "Cross" cable. In this mode, preferably you can use manual (fixed) IP settings. I am using this mode.

I have not tried connecting directly between PC and Xtreamer on wireless, I used a router. But it may be possible. In the Xtreamer, select the wireless connection as "Adhoc" or something like that, not "Infrastructure". In this case also, I think you will need to use fixed IP only.

I think Dushie and other users are more experienced on wireless setup, and may be able to help better.

Have a question to Xtreamer owners, Is it possible to play AAC (6track )encoded audio through SPDIF cable. Does it decode and send it to your receiver coz I dont think any of the receivers can decode AAC.

Thanks for your feed back

NO, at present Xtreamer is not capable of decoding AAC audio on board and when you play a 5.1 AAC encoded content on it all you get is a 2 channel output and that too at a very low volume in comparison with the other Dolby and DTS tracks.
Whereas Ps3 does decode it internally and passes it on to an AVR as Multichannel output over HDMI.
