Hi.

I paid online yesterday morning and guess what today morning I have my Xtreamer in my hands. Amazing. :clapping:

BTW, I paid 9340 (8990+350) they did not send me free shipping mail.

Anyway, I am too happy to crib about mere 350 bucks. :yahoo:

Sumit has assured me that if I decide to buy WiFi within a week, he will give it to me for 1k, in the meantime, I will try my not-in-use Netgear USB WiFi dongle (802.11g) coz anyways I have 802.11g router.

Keep it up Xtreamer India Team.

I can see people taking advantage of the forum for good commercial reasons.

Someone bought Playon HD at very low price (not even disclosed) committing the dealer of many orders based on his review. Now, all kind of rumors against competition is being spread, negative environment being created.

Mods are requested to please ensure that this forum is being used to share knowledge and help each other and not for selfish commercial interests.

hey Ajay - when are you expecting your etrayz to be delivered? Do you have a firm date from xtreamer?

Hi. I am hoping to get it in 4th week of this month. Though there is no confirmed date but based on my past experience with Xtreamer India team, I hope I will get it by then. :)

My original question is still un-answered. Guys, please suggest what is the cost of cheapest branded 802.11n USB WiFi adapter ?

Hi,

If somebody has bought a particular product for a very low price it is because of their bargaining skills, if you are bad at that, donot blame others. And if you are only buying stuffs based on others reviews, it is your mistake. Nobody is forcing you to buy it based on 1 single review and only a fool would do that. Now this statement of your's makes that somebody think that your an Xtreamer Staff and donot like any other stuff. So without just THINKING don't jump into hasty conclusions.

cheers

Hi Ajay

check out the below link -

usb wireless adapter, Wireless Networking, Wi-Fi, Adapters, Switches items at low prices on eBay India

the cheapest one on ebay starts from Rs 800, u may be able to get it cheaper or at the same price from Nehru place.

But personally i am using the xtreamer adapter in another dekstop from last 2 days and i find the performance to be good, with no signal drops and good strength.

It all depends where you plan to use the same.

As the USB ones may be good, but may lack the range and signal strength based on different manufacturers. Maybe others who as using a wdb wifi dongle or adapter can tell.

Personally i feel the ones that come with external antennas have a better range and signal strength

My 2 cents on the same -

1. If users don't want to disclose the amount they purchased for its up to them. But one should remember that best figure they got through the forum on which they bargained further for a price drop. So if they benefited why not pass on the same to others as we are all here for sharing.

2. As far as the xtreamer thread goes,i myself including the other initial buyers of the product have openly disclosed the price that we got the unit for and also other offers that came up. Which is to benefit other users in getting a good deal. In the end what you negotiate is up to the individual and no one can control that.

3. Well whatever reviews or feedback that has been provided for xtreamer has been the exactly what buyers like me and others have faced and there is nothing to hide . I don't know much about promoting a product and commiting to dealers that we will help them sell more by creating hype and writing a reviews .As i believe all the members in the forum old or new can read the threads, posts and see the users who have posted them. A product won't sell easily just by few good reviews.
It really needs to perform and live up to expectations to be sold in good numbers.

4. In fact i still remember last month we had a very active discussion on E-Trayz pricing which was being offered by Xtreamer India and we posted what we felt. For which there was an update and response from Xtreamer India too. So everything here is black and white that's what forums are for.

But still if few members are getting good deals promising to get more buyers on the forum, its up to them and the dealers who are using such practices as everyone can search and read the posts in the forum.

Hi,

That is what i'm saying, read the review and if happy/convinced buy it.............. instead of sitting and complaining useless things. I would consider such type of statements as utter BS, no dealer is going to give commission to anybody just because they sold a product because of somebody's review. Everybody in this forum are grown up's, so please think practically.

And any dealer, they'r not going to relay on somebody by giving them at a lower price and expect him to get me more customers. This is height of stupidity.
cheers.

Well i was trying for some time to get my hands on m2ts files and finally yesterday i was able to get a couple.

I asked a friend to copy a couple from the blue ray cars disk.

I took them on a thumb drive and played on my xtreamer and i was amazed by the PQ it played flawlessly and looked awesome.

One file was 62 mb and the other one was 1.62 gb.

Next i will test by playing them through lan by connecting to pc and see if it works or not and how the performance is.

Hi,

I had tried playing video files over wireless ( I have Wireless-G), but for some reason, I could not succeed. The playback was very choppy and could hardly get a proper audio. I was able to somewhat play on only SD files, but DVD ISO and HD (720p) files were just out of the question.

Now, yesterday I connected on Ethernet (wired), and was able to play all files smoothly, without any problems.

Dushie, you said that the played m2ts files, one was 1.62 GB. Can you tell the duration of the file? The size seems to be too small for a full-length blu-ray movie. Also, is there much difference between a 720p / 1080p MKV and the m2ts file?

Also, whether m2ts is only the container, and the video codec is different? Like I think MKV is a container and X.264 / etc. are the codecs.

Please post your results / experience.

Thanks

Well have u tried playing the file in single wireless mode, use only G mode to play the file, set the router to single mode as mixed mode causes issues. I can't test the same now as i am using the wireless antenna with my pc which is in another room. i will try to play m2ts files through lan and report out the findings.

Dushie, you said that the played m2ts files, one was 1.62 GB. Can you tell the duration of the file?

I think the duration of the file was 5 minutes i will cross check the same.

The size seems to be too small for a full-length blu-ray movie. Also, is there much difference between a 720p / 1080p MKV and the m2ts file?

There is a huge difference as m2ts files are blu ray files. My friend had copied that file from a blue ray disk for me to test. He had copied 2 files one was around 65mb other was 1.62 gb. The 1.62 gb lasted few minutes while the 65 mb file worked for few seconds.

I actually wanted to get the entire movie, but unfortunately i don't have a device with 40gb free space to get the same.

Also, whether m2ts is only the container, and the video codec is different? Like I think MKV is a container and X.264 / etc. are the codecs.

The M2TS container format is a standard used on Blu-ray Video discs.[5][6][7] Blu-ray Disc Video titles authored with menu support are in the BDMV (Blu-ray Disc Movie) format and contain audio, video, and other streams in BDAV container (.m2ts), which is based on the MPEG transport stream format.[3][4] The BDAV container is also used in the BDAV (Blu-ray Audio/Visual) disc format, the consumer oriented alternative to the BDMV discs. BDAV disc format is used on BD-RE and BD-R discs for audio/video recording.[4]

The M2TS container with filename extension .MTS or .m2ts is also used in AVCHD format, which is a high definition digital video camera recorder format.[8] AVCHD is a simpler form of the Blu-ray Video standard with just one video encoding algorithm and two audio encodings.[8][9] Compared to Blu-ray Video format, AVCHD can use various storage media, such as DVD media, memory cards or hard disk drives. The M2TS container contains videos recorded using AVCHD camcorders, such as the Sony's HDR-SR(xx)series models. Panasonic, Canon and other brands of AVCHD camcorders also store recorded video in M2TS container format. There are some problems with AVCHD compatibility between brands.
[edit] Codecs

The M2TS container format used on Blu-ray discs can contain one of the three mandatory supported video compression formats MPEG-2 Part 2, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC or SMPTE VC-1[10] and audio compression formats such as Dolby Digital, DTS or uncompressed Linear PCM. Optionally supported audio formats are Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio and Dolby Lossless.[7][11]

The M2TS container format used on an AVCHD equipment is more restricted and can contain only H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video compression and Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio compression or uncompressed LPCM audio.[9]
[edit] File and folder structure

The names of M2TS files are in the form zzzzz.m2ts, where zzzzz is a 5-digit number corresponding to the audiovisual clip. This number is also used in the filename of an associated clip information file "zzzzz.clpi".[7] (This number can be date and time stamp of when the video clip was recorded.) Each stream has its own file.[12]

Files in AVCHD format use legacy "8.3" file naming convention, while Blu-ray discs utilize long filenames. That's why the filename extension of video files is ".MTS" instead of Blu-ray's ".m2ts". Also other files use different extensions: .CPI - .clpi, .MPL - .mpls, .BDM - .bdmv.[8][13]

The M2TS files on a Blu-ray Video disc are placed in the subdirectory "STREAM" of "BDMV" (or "BDAV") directory, which is at the root level. (e.g. \BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts or \BDAV\STREAM\00001.m2ts)[2][6] On some AVCHD equipment, the "BDMV" directory is located in the "AVCHD" directory, which is placed at the root level. (e.g. \AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM\00001.MTS )[8]
[edit] Software support

Almost all commercially produced Blu-ray Video titles use copy protection method called Advanced Access Content System, which encrypts content of the disc (including M2TS files). A software that supports M2TS files usually works only with decrypted or unencrypted files. Blu-ray Video software players can usually play back encrypted content from original disc. Video content created using an AVCHD equipment is commonly unencrypted.

Currently, M2TS files can be played using the Picture Motion Browser, which is an application video player provided with Sony AVCHD camcorders.

Some M2TS files can be played with ALLPlayer, MPlayer, Windows Media Player, BSplayer, VLC and other media players, depending on used compression formats in a M2TS file. Some players will need an appropriate codec, component or plugin installed.[citation needed] The file type .m2ts is not always automatically associated with the player, so it may be necessary to open it from the player.

Current versions of Nero Vision, AVS Video Converter, FormatFactory, Total video converter, MediaCoder and Picture Motion Browser are capable of converting M2TS files into MPEG-4 files, which can also be viewed using the aforementioned media players.

Sony products Media Manager PRO for PSP, Media Manager PRO for Walkman, and Mobile Media Manager PRO are all capable of converting M2TS format to MP4 files.

M2TS format from Sony is not necessarily the same as that of Panasonic or Canon camcorders. However, programs like Sony Vegas Pro can open and edit both Sony M2TS files as well as Panasonic M2TS files. (Sony Vegas Pro v.9 is also capable of reading and editing M2TS files produced by Canon Vixia Camcorders.) The only other piece of software known to handle both types is currently Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate.

M2TS files can also be played on Sony PlayStation 3s, Sony Bravia TVs, and Panasonic Viera TVs supporting playback of AVCHD.

Hi all,

I would like to know:

1. How long anyone has used the Xtreamer continuously (how many hours) - like when watching movies back-to-back? 4 hours, 6 hours ... ???

2. Anyone faced problems due to the unit being heated?

3. I am using Version 2.01 now. What could be the optimum fan speed? I did not change anything and is now the default - whatever it is.

4. Unit is on table, not enclosed. But unit feels little warm. So far I have not faced any actual problem, but just wanted member feedbacks

5. In WDTV, there is supposed to be facility wherein the unit scans for media files in the attached USB drive and creates / saves the media library in the disk. In this way, user can access from the media library (seen as thumb nail images) without browsing through a lot of directories to play any media. Is there any such facility in Xtreamer? I am unable to see how to do

6. I am under impression that some MusicBox and MovieJukeBox or some such applications are available / going to come in firmware etc. Can you please give some information on this, has anyone used this, any feedback

Thanks a lot
