2.1/3.1/5.1/soundbar - confused...plz help!!

GUyz,
What are the suggestions in this budget?
Is Sonodyne the only option?

How much is Polk TSi 100?

@ 15K budget for speakers, you will only be left with Sonodyne @ 11K...

An other speaker within that budget is Cambridge S30 & Tannnoy mercury V1 speakers for approx 15K i believe...

If you are willing to spend more, 5K extra, then you have PSB Alpha range, Mission range...

If you plan to keep it close to the wall (or) wall mount it , front ported speakers are better....

When you are scouting for front speakers, keep an eye on the cost of Center channel speaker & surround speakers....That will you give an idea of how much u will need to spend later

which avr?
I didn't understand your post.

1312 doesn't have ARC...that is kind of bad.
1513 should be okay for my needs.

But I can save quite a bit of money if I go for 1312 and use it to buy better speakers.
What I am trying to figure out is a good set of BS/FS within 15-20K (max).

Another option as I said before is to buy Onkyo 3500 or 4505 and use it as a 3.1 system.
If I buy a separate AVR and a pair of BS, will that combo be better than using 3500/4505 as a 3.1 system? In the later option, I get a subwoofer which is very important for movies though I understand that the speakers won't be that good.

What do you all think?

ARC!!!!!!!!
what will you do with it after having 4 hdmi inputs already!!!!!!!!!!
thats a useless really useless feuture

Absolutely correct. If you connect as ... <Video Source> ==> AVR ==> TV, why would do you need ARC? My Denon 1910 does not have ARC and I never miss anything.

separates win hands down..
was talking about this avr

Marantz NR1402 AV Receiver

ARC!!!!!!!!

Seems to be a good one...Do you recommend this over Denon 1513/Onkyo 313/Yamaha 373 etc?

Thanks for clarifying about ARC..in that case, Denon 1312@15K seems good, 16.5 odd with warranty.
Leaves me with a good 20K for speakers.

Why I am still considering the Onky 3500/4500 or Denon 1312XP and using them as a 3.1 is just because they come with a woofer. I am not sure if I go with just a pair of BS, I might not get the bass(thump) required for movies.

What do you guys think?

And please suggest some speakers (BS/FS) within 15-20K.

you can do this..
get a 10k centre
get an astonia sub wooefr 12k..
get 1312 15k...

belive me for cinema you will enjoy..without fronts and rears..

later buy fronts(bs)..and rears..

yes at 24k maratnz 1402 is better than 1513 anytime..

actually separate speakers vs ht sets like 3400/1312xp....formers are of diff leauge...
so suggest you to build slowly your system for a umcompromised result

Just in case you haven't bought yet consider the Sony bdv n990w. It uses wireless floorstanders for rear speakers. It used to cost 39 k last year but now it costs about 35 k. It was awarded the best ht system in its category in 2012 by AV MAX. It comprises of 5.1 plus a blu ray player cum AVR.

please dont misguide and waste their maney on crappy systems...
cosidering your system...a good int amp and good bs...how on earth you could sugggets this crap
its a toy compared to onkyo 3400 or denon 1312xp..
forget separate avr and speakers.....it will be sacrilage to compare this product with them

LPCM (2ch/5.1ch/7.1ch) Yes/Yes/Yes (HDMI in: 2ch only)
DTS96/24, DTS-ES Matrix 6.1, DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 Yes (HDMI in: No) / Yes (HDMI in: No) / Yes (HDMI in: No)
DTS/DTS-HD (HR/LBR) Yes (HDMI in: No) / Yes (HDMI in: No)

now think is it justified even at 20k....forget 39k..

This is listed in my first post in this thread. Please have a look :D

I have in fact already listened to a demo of this 990W. It sounded ok...but after I listened to Onkyo 3500 and Denon 1312XP, it seemed crap. So, that is the last option for me.

U confused me even more...LOL :)
I haven't thought about this at all...For now, let me go with fronts only...Will add center and sub later in that order.

Now, don't confuse me any more plz...

Suggest some good fronts within my budget.

hahaha...
no confusion..actually i experimented this many times..making fronts and rears disconnected and cinema running..only centre and sub is in action.. in my and in many others systems
as in true 5.1 recordings main sound comes from centre...and the background lfe is taken care by sub...it is done that way..we cannot help it
fromnts and rears are for suppeort and some special scenes
so you understand..

good bs fronts at your budget
polk tsi
sonodyne sonus
wharfedale 10.1/9.1

thanks a lot...Polk Tsi is not available right now...the new TSX series will come some time in June..so guess need to wait for that.
I could not find any wharfedale dealer in Hyd...so if I go with that, I will have to buy based on reviews mainly.
Sonodyne sonus...not researched about them. Actually, I could probably squeeze in Sonodyne FS if everything works out ok.

noh..entry level avr cant handle sonodyne floorstander..

wharfedale 10.1 is fantastic...cant go wrong with it..btw should be placed away from wall..as back ported

^^
Just found out Wharfedale is available here at Hyd..but no demo. Only on order.
How far from the wall we need to place it.
Can these be mounted on the TV unit or we need stands? Where can we get good stands?

stands willl be costly
use tables..looks will be sacrifised off course
or diy stands..sandfilled pvc pipe...etc

if budget no problem..you can buy stands off course

if the tv table is big..yes they can be kept at sides

from 1 feet of wall..

TV table is around 5-6 ft...so speakers can be placed 5' apart or so..should be fine I guess.

Personally, I like warm sound...can't hear bright sound for long.
So, does that change any of the recommendations?

Also, what is a fair price for Wharfedale 10.1 speakers? Hifimart is very costly at 21000. Vector systems, Hyd quoted 18000 but I think I can get it for 15-16K after bargaining? Is the price fine?

I am also considering Boston Acoustics A26...reviews are very good and those are available at hifimart at 18000/- odd.
So far, the shortlisted speakers are A26, Wharfedale 10.1 and Polk Tsi (when those are available).
Few questions -
1> Since I am on a tight budget, shall I go ahead and buy Denon 1312 receiver @15K? What do I lose out when compared to Marantz 1402 or Denon 1513 or Onkyo 313 etc?
2> Some of these speakers are back-ported...I have a false wall behind TV unit..will that cause any problem? I can place them 1' away from the false wall but will the sound be good with false wall in the back?
3> Are we saying that entry level AVRs like Denon 1312/1513 are not good enuff to drive any floorstanding speakers? I did not find anything in the specs which says so.
4> What about pioneer speakers? Reviews are very good...SP-BS22-LR - Andrew Jones Designed Bookshelf Loudspeakers, re-engineered for 2012 | Pioneer Electronics USA

if you like warm sound....
blindly take whardale....
10.1 in hifimart was 18k...just before 2 days...you missed..
yeds 1312 at 15k is good deal..
i meant maratz 1402 is better at that price than 1513..or 313
with entry level avr fs cant be driven..that said it is not that..there will be mute effect..no..
