2.1/3.1/5.1/soundbar - confused...plz help!!

^^
thanks prosenjit...I din't understand the last sentence -
with entry level avr fs cant be driven..that said it is not that..there will be mute effect..no..

^^
repeating some questions -
1>Some of these speakers are back-ported...I have a false wall behind TV unit..will that cause any problem? I can place them 1' away from the false wall but will the sound be good with false wall in the back?
2> What about other options like Monitor Audio MR2, Pioneer bookshelves etc? Considering them bcoz of price.
3> Can Marantz 1402/Denon 1513/Onkyo 313 drive FS speakers? How do I know which AVR can drive which speaker? This is important bcoz I do not want to listen most of the time at high volumes. And I don't think I will be able to audition them.

i meant
with entry avr and fs....sound will be there..but the avr willl be tired if you up the vol..plus at normal vol also..the fs wont sing as well comapred if it is driven by a powerful speaker

1.will do.
2.for warm sound dont reasearch..wharfdales are pretty good
3.audio is so subjective an pair avr+speaker to me is good..maybe worst to your ears..

I have shortlisted Monitor Audio and Wharfedale for speakers.

Now, can anyone tell me which of these will be better?
Also, what's the difference between Monitor Audio BX2 and MR2?

I think Denon 1312 will be good enuff to drive these.

This may be a little over your budget but check out the Focal Bird 2.1. comes with a net receiver in built with a Sub. 3 analog inputs 1 wireless and one optic in....also a free i transmitter. And as for the sound...JM lab quality.

Bx2 are way better speakera thn mr2..wharf are gud too but it is all upto ones listning prefrence..but ill suggest bx2 ovr wharf or even br2 if u can arrange thm as it is discontinued series..

BR2 is not available and BX2 is above my budget..
MR2 is supposed to be the next iteration of BR2...are they inferior to BR2?

Hi,

I am a newbie and am also in almost in the similar situation as aadi007.

currently I own a LED TV and Bose Companion 20 speakers.

I like the audio details/notes of a movie. While I don't want to miss the surround sounds. I dont want to take the headache of installing the rear speakers in a rented apartment.

With a budget if around 30-50K, I have following concerns, would appreciate if someone could answer:
1. Can I built a HT system where I could use my existing Bose Companion 20 speakers (kinda love them for the room filling experience and detailing)?
2. If I build a Centre, left, Right - a 3 speakers with AVR first, what happens to the left out channels (woofer, rear)? Are these still directed to the Centre speaker?
3. Does AVR provide any pre-processing to Video? or its just a station as far as video is concerned?
4. How good are sounds bars when compared to bull blown AVR + speakers setup. Can sound bars (DSP) produce real surround or it remains virtual?

Think we should also have a technology/How-HIFI-stuff-works thread for the benefit of newbie like me.

best,
Vish

HI man, welcome to the dilemma.

Now to your questions -
1> I don't think they can be used. Normally all these Bose speakers come with prorietary connections. And believe me there are much much better speakers than this tiny ones from Bose
2> The AVR will take care of 2.0/2.1/3.1/3.1 setup ..it might need some configuration but no issues at all. Obviously, you will miss the surrounf effect.
3>Some AVRs have the capability of video processing like upscaling etc. but AVRs are mainly for audio.
4> Can't even compare soundbars with AVR and real speakers. Some hi end soundbars like Yamah DSP series have good virtual surround but they are more expensive than a full fledged HT system. Nothing in the 30K range produces surround effect

This thread can be closed as I have decided to buy separate AVR and a pair of bookshelf speakers and may be a center if budget permits. Thanks everyone for your contribution :)

Hi
In aadi007 's scenario for the future, what would be a good center and woofer, if the fronts are BS driven by an entry level denon?

Yes aadi to my ears i found mr2 inferior to br2 in terms of music .i think in movies you may not found much of a difference ..u can check with audio people hydrabad ..i think they still are having few br2 left if u are lucky.in fact i found br1 speakers better thn mr2 for music
