Is there any 3D channels available in india. It was told that videocon D2H will start one but not found in their channel listing. I am getting a 3D channel named "bigfoot TV", on my 8ft large dish in C band. any other member in this forum is getting / wathcing this channel ?. I am planning to buy a plasma this week. I have shortlisted samsung 43D450 (non 3D) and samsung 43D490 with 3D. I am not planning to buy a 3D blue ray player any soon, hence my usage will be 3D channels if any available and in box conversion of 2D to 3D. ( price quoted for the set is Rs.40K without glasses. Glass Rs.2000/- extra per piece)
I am also concerned with flickering, which I find annoying on an LG 50PW450. Is the flickering is same on a samsung ?. I am not yet able to previw the 42D490.

Please comment whether I am in the right track ?. If 3D is a no no, I am also considering panasonic 42U30D at Rs.45000/- approx.

If you want to go for 3D consider LG LW5700/6500 series with passive glasses they appear to be easier on the eyes, at least in my experience and of course the glasses are very cheap (you get 4 pairs in the box).

There is only 1 3D channel now with Videocon D2H and that only has 1.5 hours of content everyday repeated all 24 hours. If you don't buy 3D bluray player still you can get 3D content from internet and put it into usb and watch it on the tv :-)
But understand one thing that 43D450 and 43D490 has only 1024*768 resolution which is not technically HD and 3D might not be as overwhelming as in theatres. So you might want to consider buying 40 inch LCD which will give you Full HD resolution at the same price but no 3D.
I suggest you consider Samsung 40D550k1R (46k) and Sony 40NX500 (47k)

I agree with you and the performance of these sets are quite impressive. But the prices are way above my budget. Actually I am looking for a 42 inch plasma and 3D is only a bonus.

The sets are not even HD ready resolution. But they are plasma. In my opinion these are better than full HD LCD for watching most stuff except full HD things. In case of full HD I will select panasonic 42U30D plasma which costs 45K. I almost decided on 43D450 but 3D is really worth the extra 5K I will choose 43D490. That is why I am seeking opinion who is watching the channel on the set mentioned. ( or any other 3D TV).

Go for "LG LW6500" thats my personal opinion. The reason is its simply awesome and passive. 3D is great and it will not give you any headaches. You can enjoy watching 3D for long hours. But before you buy please go and check the demos for other brands. Which will help you to take the decision. All the best.

if not 3D then you have got to go for the V20..........it will blow away the U30 totally!!! try to stretch your budget but get the V20, worth every penny........you will not regret it.
