Please suggest best 55' LED TV . Is there any 55' LED TV without 3D? Budget is around 1.5 lac.

Samsung series 6 should fit your budget and size. With some bergaining can bag a size smaller (51) series 7/8 LED TV as well. LGs are also good to have a look. But aesthetically Samsung's are definitely better.

at 1.5 loakh there is 55 inch sony 750 model....
and at much less price 50 inch plasma 1.2 lakh....panasonic GT whose picture is far far better than 750...only sony 850 55 led can compete with that but that is super super costly

my suggestion get a projector instead of buying a tv...great value for maney...epson TW6000 will blow you away an only 1 lakh..however everything has its pros and cons..read those properly consider the points.

and 55 incgher leds are all 3d.....non 3d cheaper 55 models are not avilable....

plasma however need some speacial care like to prevent image retention....read the points and consider.but anyday they give much much better picture than led etc...

Buy the sony 55hx750, avoid plasma sets as they have massive reflections, picture quality becomes worse in the presence of normal lights and not to forget the biggest problem of plasma image burn which is not covered under warranty by any company.

I have a 55" LG LM8600 with me which I bought last month and I would also recommend you the same.
The LM series from LG are just pleasent to eyes and also the PQ for them are just mind blowing.
The use of passive tech by LG were the main reason for me to get the LG as I came to know about the crosstalks and flicker from samsung and sony 3d sets

Of all high end TVs (55" fall in this bracket), most are 3D enabled. At the budget you have mentioned, you have following choices in LED:

  • Samsung UA55ES6200R (active 3D)
  • Sony 55HX750 (active 3D)
  • LG 55LM6200 (passive 3D)
  • LG 55LV3730 (non-3D)
  • Panasonic L55ET5D (passive 3D) - no idea about the price though
There could be models from Toshiba, Sharp, etc. also. You may have to do a research.

If you are willing to look at plasma then there are choices but they will be in 50"-51" sizes. The next size bracket is 64"-65" which will be beyond the budget.

  • Samsung 51E8000 is going for Rs. 84k right now which is a fantastic deal.
  • Panasonic 50ST50 at around 100k
  • Panasonic 50GT50 at around 115k

There are other plasma models also, notably, Pana 50UT50 and Sammy 51E550 but they are not in the same league. All these plasma models that I mentioned are way ahead of the LED models mentioned above. The only TV that comes close to the above plasma models is the Sony 55HX850 that is close to Rs. 200k and way beyond your budget.

Before making such a solid investment, you should do a thorough demo of all contenders. If 3D is of great importance, then passive 3D will be a little better. But note that, despite all appearances, your 3D viewing time will be less than 5% of the total. Initially you may watch 3D a lot but within less than a month, it will decrease significantly.

If you have not done the comparison exercise, here are the (non exhaustive list of) pros and cons of each:

LED pros and cons(for the above mentioned models only - not HX850):
Pros:
  • Bright colours/panel suitable for brightly lit rooms where light cannot be dimmed
  • Relatively much safer with respect to Image Retention or Burn-in
  • Suited for daily TV, soaps, etc.
  • Low power consumption - typically 130W

Cons:
  • None of the above have local dimming that results in high blacks
  • Prone to light bleeding resulting in washed out pictures
  • Expensive vis-a-vis the plasma models

Plasma pros and cons (for the above mentioned models only):
Pros:
  • Extra high black levels - ideally suited for movies
  • Better contrast and natural colour reproduction
  • Near instantaneous response time, no ghosting - excellent for sports and fast moving action
  • Does not require any anti-judder and motion smoothening, although this feature is available
  • Much cheaper as compared to the LED brothers

Cons
  • Image retention possible if the set is exposed to static images for long (> 1 hour); this is reversible but takes time. You must be very careful for first 200 hours and be aware later
  • Not suited for brightly lit conditions
  • Prone to glare and reflection - can be distracting in well lit rooms (but the above models have anti-glare screens)
  • Excess of static images (> 20 hours) can cause permanent image burn-in
  • Not suited for PC and gaming
  • Consumes at least twice as much power as the equivalent sized LED
