3D TV Recommendation.

i have samsung es 6200 (2012 yr model) & earlier i had d6000sr (2011 model) & 3D in the latest model is much much improved than the earlier model. I got this new model as a replacement for my old faulty model.

I could not enjoy 3D on earlier model as the 3D effects werent much good to impress however 3d was an added feature in a 46" screen tv & i was looking for a 46 inches screen. Few weeks back i watched Avengers 3D & it was awesome. Though for initial 5 mins there was a bit strain but then i did not realized anything.

3D on a 32 screen may not do good. You should atleast have a 46-55 screen

Yeah...but they are all set to launch their passive tech in the time to come.
They revealed their passive tech at the CES this year.

You can't bet on the future. You said same thing about plasma. Technology changes over period. For that matter Passive 3D may become outdated tomorrow. Every year new models are introduced that provide good (if not significant) advantages/features over today's model. Just because tomorrows TV will be passive 3D does it mean that the TV you buy today will stop performing?

Buy based on the following factors:

- scope your budget
- identify the models that fit in that budget
- look for features that are important
- disregard features that are just eye candy
- demo! demo! demo!
- buy TV because of PQ and not 3D

3D should be the least important factor. Why? Because, true and full 3D is available on blu-ray only. True 3D has full HD frame and the delta for each eye. If you are going to buy/rent 3D BD's then that 3D TV is important. If you are going to download (typically half SBS mkv's), they have half resolution per frame. Point is, don't spend sleepless night on 3D. Let PQ alone be the deciding factor.

yeah I agrre 32 inch would be a bit smaller for viewing 3d contents but right now I am not able to get the differences that the technology used in them makes over.
What about the picture quality of samsung and active shutter glasses?
Are they worth getting?

Thanks, But If I go just by the picture quality, I think Samsung takes the lead from others in LEDs but I am not sure about their 3D TVs.

As I already advised you, take a look at the Sony Bravia HX750. That's the best 2D/3D performer in your budget. The biggest difference being superior motion performance in 2D as well as 3D. It also has very little ghosting/crosstalk

oh, I am surely going to have a look at the model specified by you but Reading some of the review I found that they don't provide any 3D glasses with their TV and also There has also been some questions for the magic remote provided with them,

I think you are mistaken. Sony doesn't offer any magic remote, only LG does.

And this set comes with 2 3D glasses in the box.

As said, 3D shall be only a complementary factor on buying a TV. But I did not agree with that half sbs 3Ds are not watchable. TV viewing is a highly personalised matter. I have downloaded a few IMAX 3Ds (around 1 GB each ) and watched it on my new 43E490. It was perfectly enjoyable. May be a 3D BRD may give better pictures. But HSBS still watchable and I found no need to download the full hd behemoths to enjoy 3D. I am yet to wach a cinema on 3D. May be a cinema require full HD to enjoy it fully.

When did I ever say that half-SBS is not watchable? I said that half-SBS is half resolution vertically (960x1080). What I also said that full 3D BD is frame packed at full resolution (1920x1080). When such 3D material is sourced to 3D TV, TV automatically detects 3D signal and if set so, will switch to 3D mode autmatically.

I have now a 3D BDP (Pana BDT220), true 3D source (Hugo 3D BD) and downloaded HSBS content (Avatar 3D, Smurfs 3D, Tron Legacy 3D, etc.). Hugo 3D is definitely better.

What makes LG and Samsung to go so costly as compared to Sony??
Possibly because Sony has more confidence on their products that they are unlikely to break. Hence able to offer extended warranty at lower cost. They perhaps know that they will never have to service an item during that period and they can pocket the entire amount as extra revenue. :)

kix, can you share the link to download Avatar 3D? The one I downloaded last week had some other language dubbing (I guess German) - any idea if there is a way to convert it to English? Thats 13 GB gone into drain
