42" Plasma - Recommendations pls

Can anyone confirm whether X30 supports external HDD whch has a power chord...(not the portable HDDs which directly connect using a USB without power chord)

With power cord HDD should be supported by most of the current devices including BR players as it would not need excess power needed by the HDD. Only thing to look for whether it support large capacity drives and NTFS (I confirm all Samsung and LG BR/TV support them).

I tried several high capacity drives both powered and standalone in my V20D. None worked. All were WD drives ranging from 160GB to 1TB. Still no clue. A memory stick with 4GB worked though.

I also guess the same. But never had a chance to confirm that. I don't know if converting the file system to FAT32 will stop it working with my computer which is NTFS. Because of this fear I never attempted it and I just copies movies to the 4GB stick every time I watch.

If you are not going to save files larger than 4 GB, you can format the drive to FAT32. It will work in your computer. There are softwares which do the formatting without losing the data, though it's better to take a backup.

I have Samsung 42" C450, and I am using 500GB HDD, it plays all the formats and supports without any problem. I have heard some of other brands doesn't support HDD (supports pen drives only)....
