An update, I sent a WhatsApp message to the Pro-fx guys and received a call from them. The lowest avr they have for atmos is 1600h for 70k. When I said I can get 1500h online for 40-45k, they said there will be no warranty for any products being sold by sites like hifimart. Is this true?
For the Polk package, he offered a 10% discount at max, on the 65k price. Still a good deal with that underwhelming sub? Won't 606 V3 with a capable 30k sub be a better combo in this price?
Thank you for the tip. Yes, I also feel that the final discount can only be had at the time of purchase, in person. But the guy on phone refused point blank when I asked about Yamaha AVRs and said they only deal with Denon AVRs. And he was pushing 1600H and 2700H saying 14/15/2500 are all discontinued and not available anymore. TBH, the guy sounded shady as hell.No discounts can be had over call since most of us would haggle over calls and get the best price from preferred dealer (nothing wrong in this , just stating the reason why they dont state best possible discounts) . The current going prices ( ProFX or otherwise) for X1600H is about 47-48k and for X2600H about 55-56k (can be hade for cheaper on further pressure).
There are numerous resellers who have tie ups with ProFX and PTC, so dont worry about warranty as long as its a reputed vendor across the city/forum and go for whoever is able to provide you the best price. I would still say you will get a better discount if you walk down to ProFX showroom once you have finalized on what to purchase and bargain with guarantee of spot booking. I had done the same long time ago and had got discount of about 15-20% on the Polk speakers and around 30% on Yamaha AVR at ProFX Bangalore

I would suggest to call up Bangalore Pro-FX guys as well and have a chat, the sales person you dealt with just might be a** by nature
Since they are a multi-branch unit , cant rip of anyone that easily. They have now stopped dealing with Yamaha, my purchase was back in 2016.
I contacted the bangalore number on WhatsApp and they forwarded my number to the Delhi guy I think. Then I received a call from a dealer of theirs, Cinesound I think. Actually thats the case, Bangalore offered 15% whereas Hyderabad didnt move beyond 5%ProFX at each city seems to behave differently.
I get good prices at ProFX Chennai.

You mean any sub less than 40k is not worth the money? Like Elac debut s8/10, Polk dsw pro 440, Yamaha sw300, taga tsw-210 etc?Buy seperate sub around 40k(dont compromise) or wait till you can, 5.0 speakers of your choice like polk T series, taga or qacoustics, drop atmos for now and avr denon 1500
So finally I have decided to take the plunge in this deep deep sea of Hi-Fi Audio. I was planning to get an Atmos soundbar (either LG or JBL) but then couldn't muster the courage to spend this much for a soundbar. So after pondering for a while, I have convinced myself to go the hard route and get a dedicated system.
So, I have increased the budget till 100k but I want to have a surround setup as already have a decent 2.0 setup which I am upgrading from (Blaupunkt 2.0 active towers).
I am open to pre-owned deals but not able to find any in Delhi. So from my research, I think the following might work in my budget:
Denon 1500h (40k ish)
Taga harmony 606 V3 (30k)
Taga/Polk sub (~17k)
Polk owm3 (17k).
Is this a good combination? The room is 16 x 12 x 11 feet and is my bedroom. Viewing distance is around 10 feet and there are only 10 inches behind the headboard to the back wall for the surround speakers.
Any suggestions are appreciated
I am not saying that, but dont buy package subs go for seperate 12inch one.You mean any sub less than 40k is not worth the money? Like Elac debut s8/10, Polk dsw pro 440, Yamaha sw300, taga tsw-210 etc?
Yes, I am aware of the cable expense and assuming that it would set me back by 5-8k atleast. I really do not want to keep anything for later. So might need to look for pre owned stuff to keep everything in budget. You are on the right track considering your budget. I would probably drop the height speakers for now and would invest that money on a Sub (17K + 17K). You also have to allocate 5-10% of your budget on decent Speaker Cable.

Sadly, it's a rented place, so I don't think internal wiring is possible. I will look into the Amazon basic cable. 200ft should be more than enough I think for the whole setup.Get the Amazon Basics 14AWG coppar cable - 100ft costing 2500. If you have internal wiring possibility, pick any 2.5sqmm electrical cable - will work out cheaper and lot better in efficiency.

Second, if we are setting up the surround and atmos speakers with sub, having front tower may not have that impact and usefulness. My towers can go as low as 32hz - that was a great parameter when I bought them. But now, with xover settings, I not sending any low frequency to towers anyway and they all are going to my sub. Plus, the center channel and surrounds speakers do lot of heavy lifting and front towers, while they are good, get shadowed by the whole setup. So getting good quality bookshelves, would work as well, if the plan is to use for movies primarily - in surround/atmos mode.
So basically, with the “Small” speaker setting, your crossover is a “soft” limit for your mains/towers/center/surrounds, with only 12 dB/octave of filter below the crossover setting. The speakers still get the bass signal, just not as much of it.
A tower rated for 32 hertz is absolutely worthwhile, even when crossed at 80 or 90 hertz. Some people might feel their tower’s capability is “wasted” in the small setting, but that’s just not the case. Even as “Small” and set to 90 hertz, the Ultra Towers bring a LOT to the table, more than you would expect!
Thank you so much for your response. Is there anywhere I can audition these speakers?Although forum members have put their well researched and valuable inputs already, I'd suggest you to consider a familiar but not hugely popular brand.
You can have Sonodyne Sonus 3000 series+ Sonodyne Sub 1010/BIC F12 within 70-75k after discount. Although I have never used a Sonodyne speaker personally, I am yet to come across a dissatisfied owner. They offer more quality for their price in comparison to their foreign counterparts.
Go for an used receiver. Many who want to upgrade, trade their perfectly working receiver for a newer one - every dealer has a few in his disposal. You can upgrade 2-3 years later. But I'd suggest that you spend maximum of your budget on speakers - not receiver.
