5.1 sound in dish truHD

Hi.. I connected very very normal RCA red cable to coaxial digital out slot of dvd to AVR. Output is lot better as compared to my Panasonic htib.
1. But in case coaxial digital output gives better quality (5.1) then I like to change the cable.
2. What cables are good for speakers?
3. Same as point 1, I connected normal red RCA cable from avr to Subwoofer. Do i need to for premium RCA cable replacing normal RCA red?
4. About distance of surround speakers, I will go for 1ft behind me. And left and right speakers to side wall corners and centre speaker facing me at same height as other speakers.

Looking forward for response.

Some say that using good coaxial cables will improve audio quality. But IMHO we don't need to go for expensive cables for digital connection if the distance is small.

For speakers and subwoofer, good cables do make difference.

Thanks baijuxavior.

I will be mounting speakers tomorrow to different locations.

Will post the experience once I wall mount it.

Cheers,
Kiran

Wall mounted speakers and enjoying good music.

Bought new speaker wires available nearby home. Shop keeper told it is 36 guage (23/36 or 23/34.)

I am in final stages of connections..

1. Need to buy component cable from DVD to Samsung LCD.
I tried connecting from DVD (which has only component video) to AVR but went through an article which was stating Denon 1312 does not have analog to HD uplifting so cannot pass the signal (DVD video signal) from Denon 1312 to TV using HDMI. So only way left is to connect DVD component to Samsung LCD.

2. Connected Airtel DTH to AVR only with Optical audio and for video I connected Airtel DTH to Samsung LCD using HDMI. Did not connect HDMI from Airtel DTH to Denon AVR. With this one advantage I noticed is.. no need to keep Denon AVR always ON. In case of any good music or movie coming in HD then I will switch on AVR to listen sound thru it otherwise I will be listening only in TV.

3. Next task for me is ... how to minimise remote controls. Actually it has to be four but syncronised Airtel DTH and TV remote so using only One for it. And remaining two for Denon and DVD player.

4. Is there any way to syncronise Airtel DTH, TV, Denon and LG DVD player remotes into one or may be two (maximum)

Cheers,
Kiran

2. You can connect the Airtel stb to avr and leave the avr in standby. In this mode audio and video will be passed to the tv. When you want avr sound, turn it on.
3. What you need is universal remote control. I would suggest a logitech harmony. You can not only control individual devices, but can create 'activities' like watch DTH, watch DVD etc. For example, when you select watch dth, the remote will turn on your tv, avr, stb and set the avr input to sat/cbl and tv input to hdmi1 and will turn off your dvd.

Thanks. Will check Logitech harmony.

And one more question.. as of now, I need to everytime go to Input assignee in Denon AVR and change coaxial or optical options whenever I am switching from DTH sound or DVD player sound. is there any configuration where it can detect automcatically with single button.

I think Logitech harmony can take care of. Without logitech, is there any easy provision in Denon AVR?

denon 1312 avr does not support standby pass through....other high end models does that

oops.. I purchased HDMI cable to connect thru AVR. I will use the cable for future purposes.

you can always connect ur AVR and DTH with HDMI, the problem is Airtel DTH does not support 5.1 channels dolby over HDMI, it does only through optical cable, so for HD channel you need to have optical connected to get 5.1 dolby else it will be normal sound through HDMI

Thanks saj2001ind.

I ordered for Coaxial digital cable in Ebay.

Noticed that Y-connector cost INR 950 in ebay which I am thinking about buying to enhance the performance of subwoofer.

Hi saj2001ind,

I connected DTH using optical digital with AVR. Coaxial cable is for connecting DVD player to AVR.

Frankly speaking, I went through your thread in detail :) earlier during the process of finalising Home theatre. Your thread helped me a lot and clarified many major questions like Airtel DTH compatability, Audio output thru optical etc.

Hi.. Need your help in connecting my setup to Internet to browse. My setup is as follows..
