5.1 sound in dish truHD

Thanks prosenjit. I will check asus and western digital websites. Will keep in mind your comments on qwerty remote. At this moment, I dont want to use laptop/desktop to connect to TV.

Dish HD STB has a single-pin digital output (not sure whether it is Optical/ SPDIF/ they are the same) that I need to connect to my ordinary 5.1 speakers (without HDMI)
What cable is to be used, and where do I get it online in India?

For the nth time, Dish FraudTV set-top box does not have the ability to output DD5.1 audio.
PS: This thread is so off topic. The posts in over 4 pages out of the 7, have nothing to do with topic of the thread.

Digging an old post to find out the current status with Dish TV.

In my opinion Dish TV is the most backward DTH service provider in terms of technology. Even today they offer only tru HD which is just 1080i and they call it HD which is not. I think if its an upscaled version of the standard SD set top box. Even a normal converter available in the market can upscale a composite 576i to 1080i or may be even 1080p. Then why would anyone buy this piece of junk and pay monthly rentals to Dish TV.

Check out the link before you waste money with dish TV tru HD http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2413044,00.asp

Every DTH provider does 1080i and not 1080p

Hi All, I am back to this forum after more than year. Recently I shifted my home so disconnected Airtel DTH, Denon AVR 1312 and LG DVD player. Reconnected once I settled at house and noticed that DVD player audio is not coming through AVR.

Connected LG DVD player audio out using Coaxial audio out and connected to Denon AVR 1312 DVD audio IN socket. But it is not working.

Not sure whether I connected to right ports or not.

Please help.

Cheers,
Kiran
