Hi. I'm looking to buy a 55 inch 3D LED tv and I'm a little confused between Samsung F7500 and Sony 850/950 series. I watch a lot of sports, especially football. Which one do you think is the better buy? Also, should I wait for the 2014 models. I wouldn't like to unless there's a major upgrade and they're going to be pricier too.

Both are phenomenal TVs. However, Samsung colors look natural, while Sony's color are saturated and look odd, if not calibrated properly. With anyone of them, you can't go wrong. Whichever is cheaper, go with that.

Wait for the latest models of 2014, they're coming soon. Also, the price of Electronics will come down this Budget so wait for that too.

both are good .. sony is more reliable in hardware ..go for sony w950 only

Thank you for the replies.

@Invisible. Your TV looks brilliant, it is the 950 I suppose. Could you tell me what price you got for it and also why do you day only Sony 950? Is 850 not good enough?

850 wont give you deep blacks ..its horrible in SD ..it has frame dimming

950 has local dimming... but in real time .. i dont use local dimming at all ... screen is naturally black ..

even in well lit room with window facing.. black levels are very deep.. plasma , crt as worse compared to 950

950 price 1.16lak with PS3 at bajaj electroics

Thanks again for your reply. I'm looking for a 55 incher so the 950 set me back by more than a couple of lakhs. I think the Sammy 7500 is a good deal at 1.75 lakhs. Any reviews on that guys? Is it a big upgrade on the 6400 which retails for less than 1.5 lakhs?

Hi Invisible, Is the SD Quality in W800 and W850 that horrible ? compared to W950, Is it based on side by side comparison.. as I'm planning to buy the newly launched model 50W800 ..Thanks

If you're ready to spend that much amount, go for Samsung 64F8500 and forget about LEDs.

dont buy plasmas ..they are waste of money .. world is moving to OLED .. dont buy plasma and destroy money on pathetic technology

w850 sd quality is very dull and blacks are very bad in sunlight .. in night time its ok

.. donno about the latest model

Hi tanmays

Online reviews over the internet by TV experts suggest that a Lifespan of an LED TV is anything between 3-5 years....this is the reality...the good old CRT (bulky TVs) lasted for 10-15 and even 20 years in some cases...today's world is more about owning technology and being the best.

My advice to you is to go and do window shopping! A Vijay Sales / Croma / E Zone / Reliance etc would be the perfect place to see all TVs at one go which are more or less on the same channel. View the desired TV from all angles / sideways etc. Demo a Discovery / Nat Geo channel to see the natural colors being outputted. Next is the sound aspect and a TV having a front soundbar is better than the one with speakers which are down firing.

The most important aspect is to see the connectivity options available. And lastly is the warranty and after sales service. I did a good 3 months research reading good / bad / neutral reviews on shortlisted brands and finally settled for the Toshiba PU series...which has suite of connectivity options (composite / PC / HDMI / AV etc) and front soundbar...the most important is 3 years warranty...ofcourse I did not buy from Vijay Sales who as usual were giving a 5-8% discount...I purchased from my local TV dealer who gave me almost 25% discount on mrp.

Hope this helps...end of the day it is what appeals to you and your budget.

Hi Invinsible,
Please do not mis guide our forum members. We all know to google and find every where and it speaks of how good is Plasms technology. Every reviewer around praises Plasma. However only down side it is dying out..

OLED is a good replacement of Plasma in terms of PQ.. But cost???? It wont come down any sooner...

As of Now LED or Plasmas from Samsung are good to go... If am wrong please correct my dear forum members....

Again do not misguide people with wrong information...

W850 uses IPS panel which will be looking washed out in a total dark room.

I have compared W850, W950, W800 SD quality.. all the models are using a good video processor engine and SD doesent matter .. All are same..

dont trust this guy ..he will burn ur money in plasma

those who say plasma PQ is gud.. they say in only darkest room .. tat sux u know

LED and OLED are the future..stay away from plasma

Due to the unavailability of Samsung F7500 and mixed reviews for the W850A, I'm leaning towards Samsung F6400. The 55 inch Sony W950A is out of my budget. Sad to have missed out on the F7500. It was a great set with a good price. Any reviews of the F6400 btw?

I will always recommend plasma over LED any day of the week as I've felt the difference myself and it's a huge disappointment for me to come to LED from plasma.

I love this guy (invisible)..

I think, people won't get offended if you add IMHO in your sentences..

What about the TH-L50DT60D? Its priced same as the W950 but in a 50", and (I think), passive 3d.

@amul_capri, there are two other FMs who received 50DT60 as replacement. They like their TV but not me. And I use the TV as monitor so not watching any SD or DTH. My issues are clouding on the sides in dark scenes especially when you're watching from an angle, slight juddering in fast scenes when watching 3D which diminishes the pop-out effects in fast scenes.

@invisible, haad kardi aapne; haad kardi aapne !! :D

What Sony W950 doesnt burn your pockets.. Does it cost less????:lol::lol:

Hey buddy (invisible) stop sony marketting in every thread... I am following your pattern you jus copy paste sentences on SONY every where.. Jus see me too have sony TV W800 i am really really happy wit it.. But its just me... I cant push others...

If you close or open your eyes don think the whole world becomes dark or day!!!!
