Hi all!
Some 1-1/2 years back, I just happened to hear some loud music (Well! It's always on) while wandering the Ritchie street (the tech junk HQ), Chennai from one of the shops. What next? I didn't pay any attention at all as usual.
But when I was passing by that particular shop, something just stopped me. I don't know what; I must warn you! I'm not an audio buff or music connossieur sort of a guy. Then, stepped in for auditioning.
It was a plain "TEKNIKS" (not Technics) 5.1/2 channel amp (no other specifications like watts per channel, et al on the amp) and generic 5.1 (though the point one is Dainty 12" sub). I was just awe struck with the clarity of the music dimensions and the system was quoted for 8.5k.
Having been on the lookout for some branded systems, I then, settled for this one. It wasn't an impulseve buy but I thought it's a VFM. A couple of my friends have also bought this one after auditioning the same at my home.
Recently, DIY speaker projects (from various forum) have inspired me and I'm interested to in building crossovers/assembly; not the box building (Carpenter's help will be taken)
So, my questions will mostly be based on DIY projects. Looking forward for your guidances.
Thanks!
Cheers!
BK

I am new to this place; but have you tried part express on DIY Speakers? They sell DIY kits like the Overnight Sensation and TriTrix MTM Eliptical array tower configuration!

Hope this helps!

This is what the irony is!

As long as I was working in the US shores (for about 18 years) I never ventured into higi stuff apart from Bose, Jbl, Yamaha and Polk. I've never gone to the DIY stuff.

But after my retirement and settling back here in India now, I think and rue about all those missed chances of bringing home the best of the lots (ofcourse, without burning a hole in my purse). Think about it! Those days the baggage allowance wasn't as strict as nowadays.

Well! Coming back to PartsExpress DIY kits, they're future projects. I want to start with the desi products first, as Bibin has mentioned today in his "Hi-Performance Bookshelf Speakers" thread.

Regards,
BK

They do ship to India but with the high shipping cost and customs duties the VFM option of doing the DIY gets defeated. Hence the kind of builds that bibin/bijin/tcpip and other esteemed FMs are making and above all putting them on the forum is a great step forward for the DIY culture to start and flourish in India.

Sorry, I forgot some of you guys are home and not here in the US as a have to be! I am Chinese/Japanese(Nihon), and Indonesian(India/China)! In fact I am both!?!?

I am not a CCP (Chinese Communist Party) born in Asian!!! God no! I was born in San Francisco and live in Hong Kong before the take over in 1999 for 7 years; then Indonesia for 8 years more. I am US Stateside now!

Is it not nice to be HOME?:)

I believing that you were also US Stateside suggested the inferior parts express as that is all their seems to be for Newbies that I have found. Please except my apologies! The parts from India are quiet the perfection!:ohyeah:

I just wish I could buy some here in California/Bakersfield?

Peace Favor Your Sword!

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
