The reason for asking this question is couple of my friends are willing to get it from US but since their hand baggage is full with laptops, iPads and phones they cannot carry the PJ. So they asked if it's ok to put it in the check-in baggage. I am also concerned about the lamp, but when people order through sites like ishopinternational they are put in cargo right, so the physical abuse would be more or less the same. Will there be a problem with custom s
 
If you buy through any package forwarding sites like ishop the original packing is retained.I dont think the carry bag can offer much protection,it is not bad either.

Will they allow you to directly dump in the check-in baggage along with the entire packing.
 
I am cursing my friend for not getting it. There goes my plan of buying the projector in drain. Now have to wait for the next discount on newegg..

Thank you leo2575, that was one nicely written review with a lot of details. That review alone can stand as a separate thread. There is lot of info for the projector buying people there...

I am doubly happy with my Acer projector now, it has been close to 5 months and 300 hours with my projector and I am at awe everytime I shoot her up.

1. pl let me know if anyone bought from newegg thru ishop? will they accept indian CC? or any alternate means?
2. how would this fare compared to full HD 6510 model which is almost double the price... :( Is the price diff justified or the 720p model is great enough for the price point (am convinced from the pictures posted in the thread but wanted your reassurance :))

ishopinternational will purchase the product for you. You will be paying directly to ishop and not to newegg. You can use your debit card for payment at ishop.
 
Not sure of ishop , but from the thread its quite evident that all users are happy with the PJ. Its pure VFM and i also provided a link to a detailed review where you can get a fair bit of idea of this PJ and how it compares with its competition both in terms of price and features. I am yet to buy this as i am trying to find out folks in US who can get it for me. If all fails that i will follow your footsteps and order through ishop.. :ohyeah:

My two cents -

- This projector is not going to be your ultimate thing. Technologies evolve and projectors will as well.
- For your first projector (and mine too:)) I think its a good decision.. For a small set up and for the price being paid, I will be more than happy to use it for 5-10 years and move on to a grand one later. This can be used as a spare one for the bedroom or whatever.
- The price point is the amazing thing here, you might get it a bit cheaper in a couple of months time but seriously.. you will start enjoying movies once you have it in your hand maybe next week.

So in short, dont bother too much and take the plunge. I already did. Requested my friend from US to buy it and send it through anyone who travels from his office to Chennai. :) :yahoo:
