Acer H5370BD - Impressions

@ironhorse
You need to watch the Dark Knight to checkout the black levels. Cars would be another good one to see the color depth.. BTW do you have DTH HD , if yes please do check and post few pics especially cricket/soccer. I am sure it would be mind blowing.

Adding few more however taken from phone and again moving scene as I do not have a hd box with recorder.. loving every bit of it..

Guys, I had almost finalized Epson TW550 model ..but going thru this wonderful thread I am getting tempted for this projector as it seems to be true VFM. I think we can later go for better upgrade to full HD - 3D once the prices drop :)

Would like to know if there is likelyhood of getting Acer H5370BD at discounted price during Christmas? If so, what are the alternate option if we don't want to use ishop?

Also, on the Amazon site its mentioned as this item is only shipped within USA.. so is it that I need to use package forwarding company and order from either Amazon or Newegg? or if its Amazon, can they directly send to India?

Now with regards to projector placement I have posted couple of queries in this section, if someone can have look and share their views, It would be great help

replied to your PM. stuck in VMWARE training. if i dont pick up . i will call you back asap.

If it is 720p, it has to be this acer. Superb VFM projector. The difference between 720p and 1080p isn't worth the double price you pay today in my personal opinion...

Theironhorse, are you going for a screen? It looks good on the wall too and you have nice light control.

I am also happy with my 720p PJ.
But 1080p is.... well 1080p. Simply lot more details.
If budget permits, 1080p should be the target, especially if viewing distance is 10ft or less for 120".
If you are budget conscious then 720p will do.
Remember that selling PJ is quite difficult and has a poor resale value.

Thanks Santy for the graphs and explanation, yes, if you have the budget go for 1080p. But if you are budget conscious 720p will do and the difference is not double, it is not like you will get double the details. As Santy put, it is simply lot more details...

one of my bedroom is now converted to HT room and all DIY work has been done to make is 95% light proof even in extreme summer days inspite of a big window and balcony door.

as of now on wall its looks very good. i will gradually upgrade to screen atleast after 100 hours of usage i want to callibrate the PJ first . see the results and then if i still want more i wil go for screen.

max screen i am getting is 82-85 inches as throw distance is only 9.2 feet however its an amazing upgrade from my 42 inch LCD and moving every bit of it.

You may be surprised to know; in terms of definition/ resolution/ density, it is infact more than double.
720 x 1280 = 921600 pixels
1080 x 1920 = 2073600 pixels (2.25 times more).

But with our limited 20/20 vision, how much do we see at a distance is the question.
And then ofcourse there is the law of diminishing returns when it comes to cost.

looks good....

he previous holes for the drill. just get some white cement or pop powder and fill it. they wont look bad ...

mine too from lens to wall its 9.2 feet...

Congrats Guys,

try to watch movies like Dark Knight, Oblivion, Elysium..... the list goes They are great.

For 3d Avengers, Hugo, Turbo. I have watched them recently. They were great.:yahoo:

@ theironhorse -Many thanks for valuable inputs...

Planning to use the package forwarding services and order from Amazon when the prices are dropped ... also would like to know from you / forum members if it would be good idea to order 3d glasses and HDMI cable (35feet) in one go while ordering projector? i.e. to save on cost by asking package forwarding company to consolidate all the items in one package?

If someone can provide me web link for the best HDMI cable, ceiling mount and best 3D glasses compatible for this projector .. it would be great help...

For now I am planning to project on my off-white wall so will be considering for screen 16:9 format after a while ...

Shrinivas, 3D glasses from Sainsonic are best (buy battery ones, don't buy rechargable ones).. they are discussed in great length (and hyperlinks) also available in this thread itself. Please go through this thread thoroughly.. you will find a wealth of info.

Cheers

I suggest you to buy the HDMI cable and ceiling mount locally than on the internet. Just in case they dont work or not a perfect fit you can always exchange without any hassles.
