Acer H5370BD - Impressions

The reason i bought the mount from amazon itself was that none of the ebay.in items was specific that it will fit to the Acer H5370BD PJ.

Amazon.com: PCMD Projector Ceiling Mount for Acer H6510BD: Electronics
The above one is compatible with H6510BD as well as H5370BD...confirmed by the seller- PCMD.

It is very compact and has 360 degree swivel capability. I wanted to mount the PJ as close to the roof as possible, as i already had a cabinet made attached to the roof with limited space.

Shall post the pics once the setup is complete.

make sure the cabinet has ample air flow else its gonna be an issue. the projector has vents on either side and front as well..

I am getting a ballpark quote of 7K + VAT from my vendor for 100 inch 16:9 insta lock manual screen.

I am yet to get more details on the brand but is that a fair price for screen? Believe its a chinese make, any suggestion on which would work best. I am not very keen on DIY setup.

I am still trying to get myself a DIY screen for a maximum of 2.5K screen size 120" +.

Considering using the following materials -
10ft * 9 ft Flex Board Screen (Matt White)
Two Aluminium Pipes attached to a roller unit (this is the difficult part and I am visiting someone this saturday locally to see if he can do that)

Else I am considering Vista Screens (window furnishings) for a Matt White Window screen which can be pulled up or rolled down and will be cheaper and better in quality compared to some good screens.

Dear Friends, let me start with a vote of thanks to all the forum members who have made this platform strong, by contributing in form of information, queries, feedbacks and helps, and specially my friend A Kesarwani, who introduced this forum to me.
I am following this thread for quite some time, as I wanted a projector for HT at my new apartment. With not a liberal budget, I shortlisted 720 models of benq, acer and Epson. The reviews and information in this thread gave me confidence to select Acer 5370 among others.
I noticed a drop in prices on Amazon and newegg. I booked my pj on amazon on 18 March 14, with the option of delivery directly to my home at Mumbai. Amazon committed the delivery between 01 April ~ 08 April, but delivered the same on 25 March 14. Wowww..
I paid $405.98 as the price, and $135.31 as import fees, totaling to $541.29. The option to pay in Rs. Was costing me some Rs. 35065/-, but I selected the option to pay in $ through my card (as suggested by group member), and finally paid Rs. 34152 for the piece.
It will take me another two months, to get his installed, when I will move to my new apartment. But I just opened the piece and tested it. The performance was awesome..
I will upload the pics of the setup, once properly done. I will mainly use it with Tatasky HD.
I would like to add a comment, for the individuals who are use to watch HD in 1080 for quite some time, will take some time to adjust with 720, as they will be able to mark the difference. But it again remains the trade-off between the bucks you save, and the quality you get.
So, I can be counted and added in the list of users of 5370 in this thread.
Thanks once again.

welcome to the club.. there is always difference between 720 vs 1080 however if you watch from a distance its negligible. Also to me personally 720p gives a more cinematic feel and looks better. i am not trying to prove as i have the same product but this is coming after watching thousand of movies in 1080p over a period of 3 years on a FULL HD TV. it sometime looks like watching regular TV soaps. :D.. PJ is better in terms of cinema feel . TV does better for 1080p for crisp sharp images

Congrats Ravindra

No, Amazon did not given the details of customs paid till now. Infact, the import charges they have collected as "Import Fees Deposit", so there is a possibility that in some time they may come up with the details..

While placing the order, select the option "New", and then in sellers' list, select "Amazon" as seller.
Then it will allow delivery to India.

my friend in US received the PJ yesterday and he tested it. He was amazed by its performance. Now the baby will sleep for a month before it reaches its home :) Cant wait more :)
