LED Lamp?I doubt as Lumens in 5380 are much higher than most of LED lamps.Even Lamp hours do not match to that of LED lamps which are more than 10000hrs. Acer 5380 has 5-6hr lamp life.Power saving option is ultra Eco mode which is automatically activated when no signal is fed to PJ. That makes lamp life till 10000hrs. It is not user setting though.

Hi Guys,

I have a very basic question.
Don't laugh after reading it :)

How you connect the projector to the source?
In my case its a Laptop.

Should i connect it using USB cable
In case of USB then i need to take the audio out from headphone jack to my stereo setup.

or HDMI cable.
In case of HDMI both A/V signals are sent together.
So if i connect my laptop using HDMI to projector then would i need to take out audio out from projector.

How you guys connect your laptop to projector?

PS:I don't have AVR.
Need to connect to stereo amp.

Acer H5370BD does not have audio out therefore you have to use laptop's audio out to your Amp. It is ok to use headphone out of laptop as I don't think there is any other option. Use HDMI for video.

Even VGA(D-sub) out is another option.You get that cable free with this PJ.

This seems to be a good idea.

some more questions popping in my head:

if you are doing ceiling mount typically how many cables you use.
only a power cable and hdmi cable will suffice.(or i need to plan for more :rolleyes:)

Also what is the length of power cord provided with projector or i need to fix a power supply near to projector mount.
Is it necessary to use UPS?? ( i know its discussed earlier but i don't face any frequent electricity cutouts or voltage fluctuations in my area)

You get 1.5M around cable.5 mtr cable can be bought for Rs.170 locally.
If you are using single source,then only 2 cables- HDMI(or VGA) and power cable.

Yes Unless you want to use any other source which does not support HDMI. In that case VGA and RCA video will be required

Power cord length is normal (probably 1 to 1.5 meter). You will need a power supply near your projector or you might want to buy a long power cord but for a clutter free atmosphere, it is good to have a power supply near projector

Not sure. But projector bulb is an expensive item and it is good to have a protection. Sudden cut off of power might harm the projector

i guess will go in for below UPS as one fellow member pointed out earlier
Shop for iBall Nirantar 1KVA 1080V Line-Interactive UPS at Reliance Digital

Any other cheaper suggestions?
i dont want to watch movies on UPS power.
Thats will be only for protection of lamp.

Bulb are really expensive 13k :eek:

anything 1 Kva should do.. besides these intex also has similar ones for 100-200 bucks less.. keep the bill handy. these UPS tend to fail in an year or so.. warranty is for 2 years while warranty on battery for 6 months..

Is the below mention UPS is enough for Acer H5380BD ?

APC Back UPS | BX600CI-IN | 600VA | 360W | 2 Years Onsite Warranty | Invoice
New Launch ! APC UPS 600VA 20 Mins for Single PC

source : APC Back UPS BX600CI IN 600VA 360W 2 Years Onsite Warranty Invoice | eBay

nopes... 600-700 VA are nowhere close to the power requirement. please look for 1000va and above for peace on mind. though it will still work with 800va however it might still trip if you running on more brightness and eco mode off..

As per the manual of H5380BD
Power consumption of H5380BD

Normal mode: 235W 10% @ 110VAC
ECO mode: 197W 10% @ 110VAC
Standby mode < 0.5W

But this is in 110vAC
P=V*I
235=110*I
I=2.136 A

V=IR
Resistance=110/2.136=51.5 Ohm
As resistance of lamp will be fixed
so for our conditions

I=230/51.5=4.466 Amp
Power=VI=230*4.466 =1025.8 Watt :eek:

What i am doing wrong?
This cant be right.

yes its wrong...

a machines power rating is fixed...whatever voltage u give it..
so a 250w pj will be same 250w everywhere

it will burn 250w in every voltage

it wont follow straightaway case..if i put a 2 ohm in 100v it willl burn x...and if i put in in 200v it will burn 2x...

more clarification
the pj wont work in either voltage 110v or 230v..it will use 12v maybe
so the transformer inside will auto/manual select siwtch select 110v or 230v input..
and here is your ansewr the transformer will draw half current if the voltage is double
