Acquired Sonodyne

Hey Guys,

After a long hunt in the market for a good HT setup to be used mainly for movies, I have booked the Sonodyne Sonus 2605 FS set today, along with the rear diapoles & I settled for the Avant Centre speaker (as recommended by certain forum members here). The total cost worked out to 42k roughly.

I haven't yet bought the AVR & sub, which should follow in about 2 months. My room re-construction should start in Feb & be ready by March, after which I shall proceed to buy a large screen plasma/led to supplement by HT.

Sonodyne will deliver the set next sat to my place & the installation would be done when my room is ready...

I would like to extend my heartfelt THANKS to this FORUM which has educated me a lot regarding all the nitty gritties...it was a time well spent for me...thanks in particular to Prosenjit !!!!

Congrats. From which showroom you bought the package? Did you get the 26% discount? Do not forget to post the pics and the review. BTW, use good quality speaker cable.

You can try Yamaha or Denon receiver. For Denon, you can demo :Harmony Audio, 13, Shyama Charan Smriti Tirtha Road, P.O. New Alipur (opposite Chirantani Club). Mr. Vasudeo Jagwani 983008504.

For AVR the choice is between Yamaha VX473 & Denon 1612, both being in the 35k range. I shall audition both if possible before taking the plunge.

You mean Denon 1713? Denon 1612 is less than 30K.

btw denon 1612 shd be 25k exact.......not 35k
as i earlier said..you shd look to more powerful amps to drive avant centre and sonus fs...like 1912 model...that shd be like 36k...or little higher.
and i will be surely visiting your place for a demo...that will help me for my future upgrade:lol:

I am also looking for Center channel and rear speakers. As you wrote you settled for Avant for center channel, I just want to know did you had chance to experience both Avant and Sonus center channel side by side? If yes, then how was your experience? Please reply as I dont have chance to take the demo side by side as I based in B'lore and here Avant is not on display.

We are in the same boat. I havent taken demo of avant centre as it wasnt available for demo at mani square listening room. I have chosen it simply on specs & recommendations/reviews from others. I did stick to Sonodyne over other brands as their entire factory setup is in Kolkata, hardly 30mins drive from my place...so Im assured of service/parts at least. The sound from Sonus 2605 were great to my ears...

Guys,

As promised, Sonodyne has delivered the entire set to my house this evening. All the speakers are sealed properly...I just opened the Avant Centre to check & it looked stunning in flesh...awesome curves & its quite big...my room will take time to get ready so these babies are gonna stay packed like this for about 2 months or so

I shall speak to you on this before I buy it...Sorry about the faux paus, i meant Denon 1912 only. They had Yamaha 373 on display but I shall settle for 473 in case I opt for yamaha...

I bought a pair of 2504 V3(15400/-) and Yamaha-473(36600/-) Saturday from Durgapur showroom. Though I booked Yam 373 but they brought only 473 & 573. So no choice , had to shell out extra buck. Could not bargain hard for 473 as no other shops here.Posted this just as a feedback.
