Hi
I am looking to upgrade my PS3 to a BD dvd player. I have vob files on my NAS which I would like to access on the player via ethernet/ wifi. A built in HDD would be a added benefit, as then I could store my personal videos on it.
Kindly suggest a player suitable for my needs.

After a long research I found this is one of the best solutions...

KDLINKS HD720 Extreme FULL HD 1080P 3D Media Player with Internal HDD Bay, Gigabit Network, Built-In Wifi (Realtek 1186 3D) - Home Products

BTW... PS3 is one of the best blu-ray players on earth. Don't change that. Get a gigabit ethernet switch (something like TL-SG1008D - Welcome to TP-LINK) instead. You could stream files to and fro (in full duplex) at more than 100MBPS speed between systems.

Thanks bro, I already have a gigabit router. It's time to upgrade my ps3 due to hardware issue. I thought over the years the dvd players must have evolved and a regular player with these features would be available. Aren't the ethernet equipped Blu-ray players able to play vob files.

In that case you should definitely change your PS3.
I don't have a gigabit router now. My router is 100 mbps only. When I tried to play video files through my BDP using DLNA, the quality got degraded.

I haven't tested my BDP with a vob file yet. I'll update you once I try my luck with it.

Meanwhile if I find any good device with BDP and HDD both, I'll update you accordingly.
